I saw that one too...that one is nice. My husband would have a fit if I got another treadle, but he'd get over it! Have to draw out the sewing room on graph papaer and see if I could squeeze on more in....no point having a machine that's not in the Mom Cave, I never touch any of the machines that are tucked in other corners of the house. My mom is a much better seamstress than I am. She does a ton of handwork though. She likes to cross stitch, do smocking, shadowwork, etc. She's also designed all the patterns we've released so far. She's had some of her designs published by Martha Pullen's Sew Beautiful Magazine. Our styles are completely different from each other. She did make a comment about maybe keeping it for herself but I know that won't happen because she has absolutely zero room for it. Her house is already packed! I doubt it will come out of the back of her van until it gets here.

Today at a resale shop, I saw a 1949 Singer 201 that is naked. It does have the bobbin, but no foot control and cord, and no cabinet or case. Do the foot control and cords cost very much to replace? It needs a three hole plug. Does anyone have one to spare??? I don't know how much they will be asking for it. I like it because it is supposed to have a larger throat and also had the ability to drop the feed dogs. It is able to be used without a base to sit upon, won't it? What else do I need to know to convince my hubby that it needs to go home to Indiana with me? any additional information on the 201, for or against is welcome!

They also had a 1952 Singer 128 with a shuttle and the matte brown finish. Since it is 3/4 size and I already have 2 99's, I don't see a need for it.
They had them both in the back room and won't be priced and put out for sale until Thursday when someone who works there will be there to check them out and price them. Thanks

The 201-2 is a great machine for quilting and other large projects. The potted motor doesn't lack anything for power. We're making a list of machines that are "keepers" and our 201-2 is at the top of the list. It's a very good machine.
Make sure how the one you're looking at is wired. They both use the same 3 prong cord connector block, but the portables are wired differently than the cabinet machines. Look at the rear of the cord block and make sure there isn't two wires cut off. If there is it was a cabinet model and will need to be rewired to prevent electrical problems.
It's fairly easy to fix, you just need to make sure.

I haven't yet, but I'm going to buy one of the universal cases: Carrying Case, Flat Bed #P60218. It has an adapter in it so it will work with full and 3/4 size cases. It's kind of expensive to my way of thinking, but I can't buy new wooden cases so I don't have a lot of choices.

I think this Adler is coming home with me on Saturday. In the photo it is missing the slide plate, but the lady says she just took it off and it is in a drawer. The manual is in German, but luckily my son's MIL is from Germany so I will ask her interpret for me! I have wanted this treadle since I saw it advertised last year on Craigslist.

Now, I am in the process on taking everything out of my Sphinx 127 treadle. I am going to put the 127 on a shelf in my sewing room and give the treadle to a friend who wants to make her 306 a treadle. I don't use the Sphinx much and I really want to be able to use the Adler! It will go in the office along with my Davis Vertical Feed and my Two Spools.

I am excited to get the Adler home!

Congratulations on your new FW! You will love using it. I fall in love with my FW's all over again each time I use one! They are great to take out to sewing classes, socials, etc.

FYI, your friend may have to make some adjustments to fit the 306 into the 127 treadle cabinet. The base of the 306 is thicker than the 127 and won't sit in the opening. The treadle belt holes may need to be routed out (made a little bit oval) for the treadle belt to function freely. I am putting my 306M into a Model 27 1893 treadle cabinet and these are to two issues that I discovered. The treadle top is currently with a friend who is doing the modifications.
