Oh yeah, another thing...At 0 my machine WAS correct before adjusting. It was the other #s that were wrong. But adjusting the eccentric fixed it all. In my case, my straight stitches were too long...4 stitches rather than 6 at the longest length but I could still get a nice zigzag & satin stitch...I just never actually counted the stitches on those! I could also get the straight stitch length I wanted...they just didn't correspond to the #s on the dial. That was driving me crazy....I'm absolutely anal about stuff like that!!!
I really paid no attention to my zigzag stitch when I did this...& it also works perfect. I'm primarily a garment sewer & really picky about straight stitch length for top stitching etc.
If you can locate the "adjuster", I'd try it. You can always mark it's position before you move it...& move it back if it doesn't help.

On the Kenmore, I looked at the innards (technical term!) as I turned the stitch length dial. There's a part right behind the dial that rocked back & forth as I turned the dial. The eccentic was there...in the side of the part that rocked. It was on the right side with the nut securing it on the left. It looked like a regular screw head but the head stuck out about 3/16". I loosened the nut just enough to turn the eccentric. Turned it a little, tightened the nut & checked it. A LOT of loosening, tightening, checking til I got it right BUT I finally did! If someone actually knew what they were doing, I'm sure it would have been a LOT faster! Ha!Ha!
I'd send you a picture of it BUT, it's a real job to get to it on those dual belt Kenmores! Had to loosen the internal motor, to take off the hand wheel to remove the side panel....then put the wheel & motor back on to test the stitches.Then remove it all again to put the side back on, etc.

Path49, I know what part you mean - it has full range of motion that I can see. Maybe this just doesn't have the usual giant stitches the Japanese machines have. It isn't like the stitch is too tight to use. I guess I'm just a whiner.
I wonder about the disks. Nothing here fits. I have disks I have not idea what they fit... no disk in the machine when I got it. At least it does zz.
This has a little door on the top - you push a button and it opens. Wilbur thinks that is just the coolest little door on the planet. I have another machine that you touch the spool pin and it pops up - he giggles when I let him test that.

It'll have a full range of motion no matter where the eccentric is set...turning the eccentric just puts the "range of motion" in a slightly different place, changing the length of the stitches. If that makes any sense....
