Miriam and Cathy,
I brought one of my FWs out and took off the needle plate to show her what it should look like. I let her sew with my machine and she was amazed how nice and quiet it was.

They are really nice stitchers and most are very quiet with only a little clicking sound.

Some of them never get to find out how quiet they can sound. My mom never cleaned hers and was amazed that it ran like new when we serviced it. Her's was all clogged up, too. So much for a college home ec major eh??? I don't think the sewing machine companies wanted people to clean them - I think they wanted to service them - nobody did. LOL
