I will tomorrow. It has a round bobbin and a bobbin case. I'm thinking L bobbins but I'm not real sure. Nice set of attachments, too.

I finally found a Singer 201-2 to restore. I have been looking for a special one for a while now. It is a Centennial edition in good shape but it needs the full on Spa Treatment. I tore it down yesterday and I hope I will be getting back to work on it on Monday. Here is a good before picture of it before. I have a lot more pictures on my page. The link is below.

And this is it down as far as I am going to take it.

Congratulations on your find. This looks like it has been fairly well treated over the years. But only you know the "inside" story. Hope the spa treatment does the job for you and there won't be any corrective "surgery" needed.

Miriam, I have an old Standard head with out the bobbin winder but mine is a VBS. I really love the case for yours. It will clean up nice. Mine has good decal but don't know what I will do with it at this time. I have an old treadle cabinet that I use with diff cutouts for machines with no cabinets so guess I use that to sew with. The irons just happen to be a Standard but no cabinet so that is what I use with diff top cut outs to use my old machines in that don't have a cabinet. Would love to fine a good Standard cabinet to put on these irons.

I shot a pic of the Standard. The bobbin case is broken.

I have a question for you machine gurus. Can a 301 be treadled? I am not familiar with them at all but would love to have one some day.

no they have an internal motor. The 401G and the 411G CAN be treadled - they have internal motors but they have channels for a treadle belt to travel through. There are some other Singers with internal motors and they, too have channels.

They are quite a lot like the FW but are a little bigger, heavier, has a slant needle, built in motor, feed dogs will drop on the 301, BUT same obnoxious bobbin case/shuttle, both have that lift bed, same throat plate.
