Default What's this thing?

I've got two or three of these things now and know, I've seen a pic of them in a manual somewhere. But I can't find it now. They don't fit any of the machines I've tried it on.

Can someone tell me what it is, and what series of Singer machines it fits?

Joe

looks like the plate on my serger. Mine's a Viking (Huskylock) but I imagine most sergers look like that.

That's a serger rolled hem plate for a Viking or Brother....the plates (& a lot of other parts) are interchangeable. That's the plate that fits my older Brother.

Thanks. Now the next question my wife is gonna ask is: How did that get in a box of Singer parts? LOL

At my house it would be from rage at the serger.

Singer also makes sergers and I think there's a chance that the parts are interchangeable with some of the other brands. No part numbers on the back? With those, it's trivial to figure out which machine(s) it fits.

I have a Singer UltraLock 14U64 or something, and the plate looks similar.

Yes, thats a plate for a serger. I believe it's the plate you use for doing a "rolled" edge, such as the edge on table linens.

Is that a needle in that groove on the right? Is it supposed to be there?

My wife does have a Singer serger so we're going to dig it out and see if these will fit it.

Yes, that is a needle mounted on the plate. I don't know why for, but it's there.

That “needle” is a “chain-off pin”. Some plates have one and some plates have two. Part of what makes a serger tick.
