Default Wheeler & Wilson Sewing Machine

Does anyone know anything about a Wheeler & Wilson Model # 1 made in 1866? My girlfriend has one. It is very unique as the top folds back instead of being removed or fold to the left. The only thing that is wrong with it is it is missing the belt. Looking on the computer it appears to be a heavy or thick belt. Does any one know where you could find one. The drawers are all full of different things for the machine. She doesn't sew so she has no idea what all of the pieces are. I am going to go over to her house soon to look at it. If you go into their web site scroll down to the picture of the Man with the beard & the next picture of the machine with the box on top is hers. It has the lid flipped back on the picture on the right. Any info would be appreciated. Also does any one have any idea as to what this is worth? Thanks

IF I remember , the #1 takes a flat belt, same as used on old metal lathes, ect... you would need a lenght , Not real sure who you could find to make one... I do have a belt driven lathe , but as of yet have never had to find a new belt, I do know aguy here that has made his belts, I can tell you they are flat leather , the ends are both cut on a very very long taper, I mean very long taper, Then glued together ,, then smoothed a sin sanded smoother. so maybe a she repair plce could glue it for you .. Th ehorse supp;y would have the belting strap or tandy leather would also, tandy could steer you in the right direction the having a belt made ??

BUT, the needles for a #1 are curved,, if you don't have needles weeeell , again thats if IRC

The #1 means it has silver plated hardware, #2 means bronze, #3 means painted.

Be careful, having the last pat number being 1866 is not the same as the Machine being made in 1866

There is already a thread on here showing pictures of my number one before and after cleaning.

a) As much as you can sell it for.
b) As long as you are willing to wait.
c) As nice as you present it.
d) All of the above.

I drove to Los Angeles from San Francisco and paid $250 for mine.

So, what did you decide to do with it?
