Need help identifying vintage sewing machine
Hello everyone!
I was lucky enough to find this sewing machine at a good will (I'll attach pictures). I've been doing research on it but I am definitely not knowledgeable enough in this subject to be 100 percent sure of what I have. I know that it is an National Model VB-TT, but I'm not sure what type. I think it is either type 1 or type 5 but I have no idea.
It's definitely not in great condition, so my goal is to try to find a manual for whatever model I have so I can fix it up correctly. It would also be nice to know how old it is. Overall I'm really glad I found this machine, it'll be a fun project to learn about.
Thanks for the help!

Here's the Needlebar page on National vibrating shuttle machines. Looks like a VB-TT type 3 to me. I have a pdf manual similar to the Eldredge B but is too large to post here. Email [email protected] and I'll send it to you.

According the needlebar site, (Eldredge B) Fiddle shaped bed. Square throat plate whereas this one has the round needle plate.

Eldredge B covered many different models and there's also the Improved Eldredge B. The pdf manual I have is Instruction Book for Wards Brunswick Sewing Machine. It appears to be 1920's vintage manual but it is very similar in style to your B.

Thank you. That does make more sense. I thought the Regal Paveway was similar, but electric. The Brunswick manual I have shows the front inspection plate (on the pillar) in the oiling drawing, but not on the other drawings. I'll have to make a note of that.
