Default WONDERFUL surprise!

while I was out of town, my DH bought me a Willcox & Gibbs in the original cabinet! it has a W & G motor and a 1925 serial number, making it a very late machine.
It runs very well, but needs extensive cleaning and rewiring. It also has a stitch length regulator!

he bought it knowing I want a treadle W&G, thinking I could convert it. However, as it is in the original cabinet with original motor I am hesitant to convert it... what do ya'll think?

I agree with nygal, you have a great husband. Although you want a W&G treadle, I don't think I would convert this one to a treadle, I would clean it up, rewire it and be as happy as a clam.

Yaaaay congrats! W&G are so well made! So she should clean up well. The electric ones can be treadled I believe but I agree I think your better keeping it and having an excuse for another one! Hahaha!!

Ohhhh sweet hubby! An electric w&g and a treadle singer would finish my small collection. Congrats! I would leave it motorized personally.

I would leave this one as an electric and keep on the hunt for a treadle! What a great guy!

How far are you (location/miles) from middle TN. I have a Singer treadle, not the shiny black one, don't know the model, that you can have it if you want to make a road trip to come get it. I don't know how to do pics, but maybe I can get DD to do it for me one day next week. I am making a determined effort to get rid of some of the many double machines that I own. I don't use them, and have started saying (one in, two out) everytime I see something that my heart longs to go an look at.....That way you can leave your W&G electric, and have both at the same time.
