Default Would anyone know how to?

I have a singer 15-91 from 1946. The light is upside down on it. Who knows what or when this happened or how. I need to know how to take it off and put it on correctly. Actually, my dh said he will, but it has screws and a balic and such and he is not sure how to attact this. Kinda odd set up. Any help appreciated.

I think looking at the pictures here you can why the light is not helpful as it should be. Thanks again.

Will the shade/cover part over the light bulb twist into proper position? Have you checked to see if it is attached under the silver round inspection plate on the back? Mine's set up a little differently, so I'm not too sure on yours.

My dh took the silver plate off and the electrical light bulb thing, and it will not twist into proper position. Not wanting to break it, we thought we would search for some type of direction. My other Singer 15 is not like this light bulb attachment either. It is no big deal, doesn't alter how the machine works, but the light is useless like these. I wasnt able to find anything on the net yet. I have the manuel and yet it is not helpful. It is like someone put it on backwards or something. Love the machine.

Would a Singer parts place be able to help you? Singeronline.com or sewing machineparts.net? They might be able to direct your inquiry?

Perhaps someone took it apart to repair and put it back together wrong. They are kind of a mess to take apart and put together. At least that is my experience. If you have a Singer dealer who has been there a while, they may have an extra you can purchase.

i have one that was like this, the shade just twisted to cover the top of the bulb so the light would be directed down. We dident have to take anything apart or fiddle to much, just twisted the shade part. I hope you can get it fixed. I thought it was suposed to be like that at first and it blinded me whenever i stood up! lol

Send your problem with pictures to "[email protected]" This is a good friend of mine who works on Singer and other machines. He also fixes treadles and has a beautiful collection in his basement. He keeps my 401's and 301's in tip top shape. His name is Jay. You will love him.

Ah, my wonderful hubby firgued it out today! He said the metal piece inside the piece that holds the bulb, It pops out of that casing and there are apparently 2 screws that you can loosen. He then said the whole piece will turn all the way around. If anyone needs real clear directions from dh on this, let me know.

A 15-91 manual tells you how to dissassemble the light and change the bulb as well as the tension guide and oiling. Do you have a manual? PM me if you need one.
