Maybe you can get in the next one if we have another, and I hope we do. They are fun to make and also to receive. And what a wonderful supply of different patterns there are, just on the net!!!
As for what to stuff them with, I have used poly stuffing, and also now I'm using ground walnut hulls. They are supposed to sharpen the pins and needles. I would hesitate putting steel wool in one to sharpen the needles and pins, as I'm thinking if it gets damp it might rust and then deposit the rust on the pins. The cheapest place to get the hulls is at a pet supply store. You have to get a larger bag on them, but it would be cheaper in the long run. You also can share them with a pincushion making friend.
