I've used sports jerseys along with regular t's in the t-shirt quilts I've made and have had no problems. I also make sure my interfacing goes the opposite direction of the stretch in the t-shirts. My LAQ prefers not to quilt through the painted sections, if any, on the shirts, as it would gum up her machine.
