I had a Montgomery Ward machine from the 70's, and this is styled very much like it. It sewed like a dream. If you don't have a manual, look on line for one.

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of asking mine to do more than it was designed to do, and it didn't. I broke the timing/tension mechanism, tried to get it fixed but had no luck with it. Lesson learned. Sigh.

Does the top lift up so you can see the mechanical stuff working while you sew? Mine did, and my nephew, then 6, was fascinated by it. He would put the foot pedal to the metal for me while I sewed. We had quite a rhythm going!
