I would open up the one of the seams at the diamond points. Re-starch and press carefully so it doesn't stretch the unit.
Mark the 1/4 inch seam that you need to make the block fit and sew back together. Trim out any extra fabric on the back so there is only 1/4 inch seam allowance left.
