I was thinking the same thing. How they can get away with distributing copyrighted books without running into DRM (digital rights management) issues and legal challenges is a mystery. Even non-profit public libraries have to pay for their e-books.
A simple internet search of “what is b-ok.org” brings up quite a bit of information on the legality and safety of using the site.
