Thanks Lesley. I finished the tris a few weeks ago, then year end happened and this is a busy time at work! I have two kites, the scallops and then sewing the borders to the quilt top, for the finish line. Of course, mine will be long arm quilted... It is exciting to be so close.

I love seeing everyone else's progress and their blocks/quilt. They are all lovely with all the different themes and colors!!!

It is fun to see new people joining. Maybe somebody will start a new schedule for another one sew along on this quilt. :D

Meredith , you are so close to being done! I can't wait to see how the LAer does your DJ. It's a good feeling to be so close to finished isn't it?

I didn't get as much done today as I would have liked, but I did get some things figured out. I sewed together one of the tri border rows. I'm attaching some pics so ya'll look and make sure I'm not screwing up.

Since I am planning trapunto (but I think I would do it this way even if I wasn't), I decided that I would sew the pieced tris with their batting to unbatted plain tris..see pic. This allows me to not have an overlap of batting on the back.

I found that I have a tiny bit at the bottom of the tri that overlaps and gets thick, so I've trimmed one side of that off.- see pic.

Now, I can add the batting for the trapunto work (which I will do by machine), then I can trim it, then I will add a reduced size tri of batting and hand stitch that in...see how much smaller it must be??? I'll have to trim down my stack of pre-cut batting triangles. This should result in no batting overlaps.

Here is a big question that I have though.....LESLEY>>>>HELP!
All 4 borders are made up of 13 pieced tris & 13 plain tris..all end up being the same length. Don't 2 of them need to be longer to allow for the addition of the skinny border?

This is how I'm sewing it together

That looks good! Hope I can come up with a good way to do mine when the time comes. It usually always works itself out.

[quote=LaceladyCan you tell I really like it? LOL.[/quote]

Nope! :)

The Avante 18 comes with 2 stitch regulators - general & micro. There are also micro handles available as an option. Was just wondering if Sweetie was like the 18" version. That would be terrific!

Sweetie is updateable - if you have the cash. For instance, you can buy the frame for her to go on, and I think you can add the regulators, handles etc. too. You would need to check out the Handiquilter website.

Patti, not sure about your question - which two tris do you think have to be different because of that narrow edge border?

Don't forget that I had a 3/4in border, not a 1/4in one, and I didn't have a problem (though I was a bit worried about the corner kites at one point) I did make my in between tris a little bigger, which meant that they no longer came to a point, but that was all I did. When it came to adding the kites, they just went on like a dream - no problems at all. I'll have a look and see if I have a pic for you, if not, I'll take one.

No suitable pic, I'll get back to you on that one.

Here I am, did you miss me, LOL?
I took a couple of pics, Patti, to show you how my kites fitted onto the corner. As long as your border fits your centre when it has that narrow edge border on it, then the kite will just sit in between, as it actually takes up no room on the edge.

I was very pleased at how the angles of the kits just worked, and sat nicely so there was no puckering or pulling- BIG sigh of relief and happiness.

Last pic is for Kathy - just to show how Sweetie is coping with her first King sized quilt - no problems at all. Some puddling around the edges, but not a lot really and very comfortable to move round. That dark patch right in the middle is about 9in across, to give you an idea of scale.

Just to show the last one wasn't a fluke!

Lesley, I just love looking at your quilt, and now with Patti finishing up hers, everytime she posts pics, I love those too. Elle's is getting there and they're beautiful too. Everyones' blocks are stunning and the quilts they will become will be wonderful!

I have now quilted 102 blocks on JJ
