i've always wondered how people manage on the road with a machine.

last year DH and i did a road trip to memphis and all the cats came with us.

i just loved being on the road like that and have mentioned a few times that i'd like to get an RV.

i always get depressed when i can't sew. i've been sewing 6 days a week every week for the last 8 years.
How many cats do you have?

We have an RV... we call them campers, and we plan on taking our one cat with us when we go away. Quite a few people do take cats, surprisingly. Hubby is still finishing the inside so we haven't used it yet.

i think you'd run into a battery charge problem. a good iron needs major juice that a charge might only last an hour or so.

how about those seam roller things, i use it all the time when i paper piece, i don't press between each fabric strip like some people do.

i have 4 cats but we took 2 on the road trip because they were both on antibiotics and really fought about taking them.

there's no way the pet sitter would be able to do it without being ripped to shreds.

Actually, I wonder if an old fashioned "heat on the coal range" type contraption would work. My in-laws probably have one, their place is like a museum!

And hubby has just informed me that his mum does indeed have an old cast iron iron that sits on the coal range to heat up! LOL

For those with out electric the cast iron sounds great. We work at a mission station in northern Canada where I used an iron that was heat by white gas. Very noisy and I only used when I had to. I would think there could be one made to work off those little, three inch, propane cyler. Then it could also be used in the car.

here's a seam roller but i think you could just pick up a wallpaper roller at the hardware store and it would do the same thing.

you know how they tell you to press between each piece of fabric when paper piecing - well i don't do that, i just use this roller thing to help fold the piece over.

here's a seam roller but i think you could just pick up a wallpaper roller at the hardware store and it would do the same thing.

Our newer motor home has a generator!! Our old one did not. I also use a small blunt end stick to press seams. I only do blocks on the road, put things together at home.

these are beautiful! I have a kit to do the Jane Austen diamond quilt, but have been sidetracked by so many other projects! I might wait for retirement in 30 years or so!
