I'm so glad you're joining us, Gashgoldvermilion! Do you have the DJ software? Civil War fabrics? Brights? Pastels? Batiks?

Hello Gashgoldvermilion - you will love it here - I do !!
I have been doing my Christmas Baby Jane since May 2007 and I am determined to finish her this year !! This thread has spurred me on so much - I have found the timetable has made me do blocks that I had previously put off doing because I felt them too hard. In many cases they are not perfect - but hey, they are done -
Happy New Year everyone and here is wishig you all a healthy and peaceful 2013.

Always love seeing a new face around here - so glad you are joining us Gashgoldvermilion!!!

Don't know how much patchwork/applique you have under your belt - my suggestion, after you decide what fabrics you will be using, is to get kickstarted with some easy blocks. When you go to the first post, they are the ones in green. I took the difficulty level directly from Brenda's software. There are advantages to the software and to the book. The software allows you to adjust the sizes of the blocks you want to print out and move the blocks around on a computer screen. It also has templates of each block that can be printed. On the other hand you can enlarge [decrease???? heavens no] any block on a copier from the book as well.

Be sure to check out the links in the first post - get ready to drool over the quilting on the DJ done in Kaffe Fassett fabrics at the greenfairyblogsite if you havent already. Unfortunately Sharon Mastbrook's DJ design wall is no longer available. She had developed a program to place your own blocks on a computer design wall. Check out Gladys' and Dottys [oops ...not Dotty is it???]. You can get some ideas from our DJ friends at this site as well.

I've been among the missing over the last several weeks - have only popped in off and on but will correct that as I am ramping up again.

Jane Stickle's quilt has various level of difficulty blocks spread out all over the place, so you can certainly jump in at our place in the schedule and see pointers as we hit those blocks. I will get my sheet out and repost the 'post numbers' at the upper right of each post where you will find helpful tutorials for some of the blocks [if I finish before the next person post this one should be #1905.]

Some of us have noticed that the book and the thatquilt.com blogsite - both of which are invaluable, sometimes don't look exactly like the original. Some of us have just gone with the instructions, some have decided to change the pattern to make it look more like Jane and not use the instructions.

How do you get to the right post number easily???
If you are new to this site - you should first become familiar with your general settings. I think the default for number of posts per page is 10. Mine is set for 20, which makes this page number 96! Some members have theirs set for 40. At 20 per page, page 95 includes post#s 1881-1900. At 10 posts per page this post will be found on page 190. To find out what page to go for the post you are looking for divide the post# by the number of posts per page.... 1905/20 = 95.25 ..then round up so go to page 96. To change the number of posts per page:
1. click on "settings" in the dark bar at the very top right of any page
2. look at the bar down the left side and scroll down to "general settings" and click ...found under 'my account' under' my settings'
3. on the right side you will see many places to make adjustments - when you scroll about half way down the page to thread display options, one of the adjustments you can make is to number of posts per page
4. after you have made whatever changes you want, be sure to go down to "SAVE CHANGES" at the bottom

well... Happy New Year ladies
gotta walk doggy ..it is 10:36am in Agoura Hills, CA and the temp is 39 degrees!!! Not complaining as I hate the heat!
it is incredible - was supposed to snow two nights ago, but the precipitation halted so - white ice on roofs is all we got

Take care!! stay healthy one and all
Gus

Haha!! Gladys that is so funny - I have relatives in your hemisphere [Australia] and have to remind myself when it is very cold some days that half the world experiences a totally different temperature and season
I myself have always preferred the winter cooler months [there's only so much you can take off!]
However, as I continue to age...... ahem.... the bones and joints do not enjoy the real cold temps
mind over matter I tell myself! Off to finish another quilt and then DJ it is

Enjoy the last couple of days of R&R... catch up??
Gus

Good evening ladies - Happy New year - this is my first DJ posting of new blocks and tri's this year and this is the finished ones :-
J5, J12, LS1, LS5, M13,
RS9, RS12, TR7, and TR11.

My totals are now -- 158 Blocks, 37 Triangles and 3 corners with a total of 4303 pieces of fabric. OOOHH I am REALLY beginning to see the finishing line - I do still realize I have the sashing and quilting to do though !!

R&R means rest and relaxation such as I feel when I have a break from going to work every day.
