Hello Beautiful Ladies! Happy Saturday!
As I promised you, here are the 4 blocks from my personal week 27!
Are F-1, F-2, F-3, F-4. Now you will see CindyA in F-1 my cutting and sewing backwards!
I thought that had mirrored parts... but is that I didn't do it! Lol! : (
So A-1 and F-1 were rotated on its axis and transformed into my 'personal' blocks! Hahaha!!! : D
Well, have a beautiful weekend, here the autumn brings us many clouds and some rain!
A big hug to everyone!

Well, if I have insomnia I might as well get started on this week's blocks, right? I enjoyed this little block, I think it's a particularly nice design.

Actually Gladys, F-1 is IDENTICAL to Jane's
take a look at the book - you made it the reverse of your A1, but the same as Jane [it must have been her influence]
ALL of your blocks are spectacular!
I know.... the typing looks weird after I put the end bracket following the last smiley and continued typing I tried to write to Cindy and it kept putting the end bracket on the next line instead of the exclamation point ???
well now it worked...
Cindy - so glad you made K-1 Brenda's way & I love the block. I may just do that rather than following my instruction few posts back. Jane's K-1 looks huge compared to the other blocks and I'm thinking Brenda may have changed this one on purpose. In fact, taking a second look at K3 - I think I was wrong, because it does look like there's more than sashing around Jane's block.
Had a rough day yesterday... we took the birds to a relay for life event and our rufous red tail hawk died within 40min of the end of the event. It was close to our home & when we got home Griffin was laying down in his crate. We took him to the vet, but he never made it there. Steph had him on her lap and he passed a block away from the vet! Now we wait for UCD to come back with necropsy results to figure out whether he had something the other birds will get...

Dotty - I just sent an inquiry to EQ. There is a "my chart" link on the DJ software which has Sharon Mastbrook's chart with supposed capability of substituting our own block images when sized & named properly. I keep getting messages 'access denied' and 'administrator's permission required!' I've followed all help instructions, but the 'read-only' comes right back to the 'my chart' in 'my jane journey' after I take it off and prior to substituting my pic

Hopefully EQ company will be able to sort it out. I will give you all detailed instructions if I am successful.
Gus

Monica, I'm so sorry about the hawk. What an awful shock! Hope it's not something the other birds can catch.

[ATTACH=CONFIG]410591[/ATTACH]Spring is here. Wish I could say I grew these. I did not, critters always get my tulip bulbs, but I'll try again this fall. These tulips were locally grown.

This is the answer I received from EQ software this morning that will explain how to use the DJ chart... [for those who have DJ software and like me, couldnt use it]...

Hello Monica,

I’m sorry you did not see the support topic on our site dealing with this. Here’s more explanation.

Ever since Vista, you may be unable to write to Program Files. (Thus the “permission” issue.) So we need to have you get My Chart from the CD and put it in My Documents.

To do that, you would put the CD in your drive > open My Computer > right-click your CD ROM drive and choose Explore.
Copy the My Block Chart folder > Paste the copy into My Documents.

Now you’ll be able to use the chart: ALL of the directions for My Block Chart will remain the same, except where the Block Chart is. So at this part in the instructions it will read:
You will now replace our images (mya1, mya2, etc.) with your new block images. To do this, look at the Save in: box at the top of the Save as box. If you used the default location when you installed (in other words, you just clicked Next, Next, etc. during installation), then your scan needs to be put in: C:\Program Files\Electric Quilt Company\Dear Jane\Pics\MyChart). If you did not use the default location when you installed, you will need to navigate to the drive and folder that you installed the Dear Jane Program to and save your images there.

- Click the down arrow beside the Save in: box.

- Click on My Documents.

- My Block Chart\PICS\MyChart

- Double-click on My Block Chart
- Double-click on PICS

Click the Save button to replace our blank image space with your new block.

To view your chart, go to My Documents > My Block Chart folder > HTML folder > MyJane folder > double-click on chart.htm

Beautiful block ...and tulips, Cindy!!!
Coming from Holland... a critter gets to tulip story 33yrs ago -exactly! - we celebrated our son's 2d birthday with my cousins, aunts, and uncles in Holland. We visited Keukenhof [the infamous tulip gardens] and bought a couple hundred [ahem....] tulip bulbs of very special varieties. We had them shipped home and planted them in containers because we were going to move to a bigger house. Once we moved here, we transferred most of them to the ground. Big mistake!! the area was not totally developed.... hundreds of homes but we were just one house from the end of the developed area at the time. Sheep grazed behind us, occasional cayote, rattler, thousands of rabbits, few field mice, raccoons, other rodents... ALL loved the tulip bulbs We provided them with exotic delicacies
Maybe someday we can return....

Well... dont quite have the bugs out of the software chart yet!! the response I passed along above only partially successful. I am now able to replace the 'buttons' with my individual blocks, but I cant view the whole chart. Therefore I can only see one block at a time?!?! well I was able to do that before. I sent in another question to tech support. Once it is sorted out I will fill you in.

Meanwhile.... got two of this week's blocks done [and two in progress]. Here are K1 and K4. Yes yes yes - my 'version' of K1 ended up as a rectangle... will I redo it? heck no!
[ATTACH=CONFIG]410780[/ATTACH]
K4 - really liked the 'border fabric" look, so I played with two of mine and this is what I came up with. I reduced the center block size - it was cut at 3" with the borders, so finished 2 1/2." I used same method of assembly as thatquilt and aunt reen - in fact, I used Aunt Reen's measurements to cut the triangles. But you will notice I put an extra background strip above the small print outside triangles - as Jane did. Difference?? You will notice those outside large corners don't quite make it to the points of the center square. But can't have it all I think, as I feel like I'm on the 'home stretch' - I oscillate between being anal and picky to having a 'just get it done' approach

enjoy

OK...one more today YAY
I actually cut the parts at 730 tonight and did all the sewing during the commercials of "Bones" just to show you it's quick and man have they ever cut down on actual showtime!!!

I wanted to give you a slightly different method to tackle this block. I started with strips - all were cut 1" exactly [well actually the outer border I cut 1 1/4" and used my Jane ruler to square it up/down]

I cut 3 background strips - 1x4.5" and 4 - 1" squares and a 1 1/4" x 21" strip for outer border.

of print I cut the following 1 - 1 x 4.5" strip; 1 - 2 x 4.5" strip; 1 - 3 x 4.5" strip ... before attaching to background on the long sides of the 2" & 3" widths, I cut off the bottom 1" [leaving me with a 1 x 2" and 1 x 3" strip to attach to center first...refer to drawing] Next I sewed those long sides together and cut 3 - 1" strips from each unit. I basically sewed it together going in a circle once the middle 9-patch was made...a la log cabin fashion
