Have a Happy Mother's Day ladies .....Gladys - you had yours in the fall September or October I think?? But have a great 'Northern Hemisphere' Mother's Day. Having said that, we had a painter here from Mexico and he said it is always May 10 there....happy happy!
Gus
Thanks, Gus!
Very happy day to all the mothers of the Forum!
I hope to have a wonderful day, are very pampered and enjoy with their affections!
In our country is celebrated the third Sunday of the month of October.
I agree with your painter, Gus! Everyday should be mother's day!
But sometimes this recognize it when it is no longer on our side! Lol!
A big hug to all!

I have not followed along as I wanted to. I have the book and ruler, got those in the beginning of this thread. For Mother's Day, my DH bought me 4.5 yards of Kaye England neutrals for the back grounds so I can keep with a theme on the blocks and I have collected enough darker scraps, I am mentally and physcially prepared to join in the fun. You ladies have done some awesome blocks. I think best if I pick up where we are right now and then work my way back and forth. Not sure exactly yet.

I'm another one that fell off the bandwagon. I'm about halfway done with my top, but had to put Jane away for now. I had a newborn and this is a little too complex for a tired mommy brain. When we get past midnight feedings, she will come back out to play. I never dreamed when I started this that it would take me so long, but a growing family is a welcome interruption. If there is a round three, I can tag along(hopefully to finish). Until then, I lurk during those midnight hours and work on a Grandmothers Flower Garden instead.

ND quilts....congratulations!!! a special Mom's day to you with a young one
You can play whenever - easiest to jump in where we are and at some point I will get a full list of post #s together so you know which one to go to for each block. You can certainly always PM me if there's a problem with a block after I' done here. I will check back and be involved with some other thread

So I'm on a roll and on target with my plan to do one classic block per each batik block. So far I've done four classic and three batik. I have a box in my sewing room with about a dozen block directions matched to fabrics I planned to use. So I finish one batik and grab a block set from the top of my box. When I finish them all I will join up with y'alls schedule and then work backwards with Quiltermamma.

@NDQuilts...congrats on the sweet new baby. I spent the first two+ weeks of April helping my daughter with her new princess. She would agree to "baby brain".

SO...Here are my finishes for today.

Great blocks, SheriR. I'm loving your fabric and I'm so glad you're joining us again.

I think I am brain dead and my youngest is a Junior in high school, maybe that is why I am "mommy dead". LOL

Love on that little one while you can. They grow up so fast. Next year at this time I will be hosting a graduation for three daughters, oldest with a Bachelors, another with Associates from college, and the youngest from high school. The oldest daughter hopefully will be getting married by then.

Ok, I am trying to figure the best way to do this. I have all this fabric and my base neutrals, now what? I have printed out the schedules and charts, wonderful I might add. So what is my best line of attack on this? seems odd, but I am feeling overwhelmed with my starting. I am excited, but what is best for doing them right? I will read some more thru the posts since I can't focus on work, even though I need to finish up payroll, and see what else I can find. thanks for riding along with me SheriR.

QM the schedule is a great order for these. Start at her first one and go! You were smart to pick a background. My(what I'm calling Classic) I've been using a different background like Jane did. But the Batik Jane BOM has one background and I think I like that! The BOM also came with directions for blocks A1-A10. But I'm thinking I will do the same batik as I do Classic. They said I can use my 10 fabrics in any of the 10 blocks, so why not ANY block I want... I really really want to continue(and complete) my DearJane journey.

QuilterMomma!!! LET'S DO IT!

We are on girl. I am finishing up some customer quilts this weekend, which will be great, my DQ for the swap, if can assemble my Quilt for Quilter's Swap, then take out and focus totally on the Dear Jane blocks at my work area. I am hoping the three day weekend coming up will help me get somethings done that are so close to being done, binding set aside of course. Isn't that the way it is, our wish to do list is larger than our able to do list.

Not that I want more to do, but I have ordered in 25 yards of black, wouldn't it be pretty with my bright hand dyes and batiks to make a Dear Jane quilt as well. Since you will be right there, like you Sheri, make two blocks of each instead of one. I have seen them with the black background and love the brightness. I do have several scraps of batiks and hand dyes to work with. bet I could get that done as well. Imagine what my house will look like with both piles out and all over the place. Wonder if DH could handle that catasrophe of fabric.

QM -- you are making an entire quilt to swap on this board??? OMG hope it works out better than my nightmare
I spent many many hours on hand applique/embellishment/broderie perse a row for 'my quilt' for a row robin here in 2011. I saw some of the progression - or should say since no pics - heard my rows progressed through our group.... and then stopped somewhere in New Jersey with a member Should have returned to me September of 2011 - never to be seen [by me] again.

on a brighter note.... DJ with batiks on black would look spectacular!!

I'm in the process of looking back through the earlier pages of this thread to add post numbers to each block. I will then post a chart so everyone who has yet to finish [or start] can have an easier handle on finding pointers if they want some, and also a starting point to look at pictures of blocks. speaking of..... I've made 4 tris and 4 squares since Mother's Day and owe a few photos.... no not yet, but soon.

As to my schedule - I made it up considering the comments and suggestions made by the DJ group that made theirs prior to my starting. They wanted to be able to work rows at a time to be able to piece things together or 'see' what it would look like sooner than having all blocks completed in a scattered order. I also referred to Brenda's complexity chart and focused doing more easy blocks first within a section and making sure triangles were done throughout the project so if they overwhelm you, you dont get turned off and stop altogether. Having said all this - and the schedule does seem to work - but be aware life does and will get in the way ....drats!! I fell way back myself at the end of last summer with machine issues and computer replacement and still have 6 older tris to complete, even though I have a few things done ahead. I am so determined to finish ahead of schedule that I sometimes will pick a couple of very simple blocks that I have down for later this year and whip em out!

I now have 25 squares, 20 tris and 2 kites left
