The girl I'm making this for wants a red quilt. So I figured red and white. I asked her about another color and she said tie dyed. I'm really at a loss how to do this. I wanted to use what I have. Naturally my reds have flowers and she said no flowers. There is no such things as red tie dye. It usually turns pink or purple or orange. This one is really stumping me. I'm just not sure what to do about the other 2 colors.

can you use different shades of red. red with some white maybe a checkered or dotted to make it a med. a regular red that leans a little darker for the med/dark and something close to a burgandy like cherry red or is it apple red? Maybe a dark batik . Use a white for the neutral . This is a hard one. Good Luck.

Mary, Watson, and Connie, your blocks look great. I have hardly started, but I will be working on them a lot tomorrow. I'm glad to see some of you are doing completely scrappy. I am using children's fabric, and the colors are all over the place. Hopefully, I can get a photo up soon.

M-Fay, change your camera setting to black & white. That will give you a better idea which fabric is darker. I saw this idea on a knitting show when a large group of yarn needed to be sorted into light, medium, & dark values. I like your greens.

Flagging down the train, y'all are having so much fun, I have to hop on. I'm trying to use up my stash. This will be perfect. Now to tackle those scraps. Looking forward to the adventure.

DD, I almost clicked on your comments to answer and then remembered, every time I am behind in reading, I will comment on something someone says and then read on further and see someone has already said it. I agree with Dot. There are some really pretty red batiks out that that definitely fit the "tie-dye" look. Can't wait to see this one.
