50 Fab Paper-Pieced Stars

I was just looking at this book on Amazon. I'm in the process of making a Dear Jane but I love paper piecing. I've always wanted to do either a blue and white or red and white quilt and I wonder if these stars could be done with variations of just two colors or whether a third color would be necessary. Any advice?

GREAT!!! We are getting quite a little group here. I love these stars and can't wait to start. As for using 2 colors, it would work for some but not all. Most need at least three and sometimes more but you can do just the ones that would fit with your idea. Also with 50 blocks you could make 2 quilts. You could actually get more blocks if you continue after Wyoming and Combine sections for even more blocks which is what I might do.

This sounds good. I have -Carol Doak 40 Bright and Bold Paper-Pieced Blocks, I just finished a class which was in a year long. I used probably six different fabrics. I made all of my background fabric the same, while others in the class, mixed it up. At the end, the ones with different background fabric had a hard time finding additional fabric to combine all of the blocks. But they all looked great, just all so different. I would love to get this book and participate . Maybe I can still put this on my Christmas list. My boys are always looking to get me a gift that they may end up getting something from it. LOL

This is going to be great! Terrific book full of wonderful patterns. I have made a few, now looking forward to making stars with a common fabric to give it a unified look, instead of the scrappy quilts I usually make. So glad you organized this thread, Florence.

I purchased this book several years ago. It continues to be my all time favorite book for paper piecing. I wnt to Kinkos and had the binding reomoved from the book , and put the book into a 3 ring binder. It so much easier to make the copies.
I would join you on this journey , but have made all the patterns( some many many times) . It will be exciting to see all the results.

Good question. Not sure but on some of the blocks I have done I used two 5" and two 3 1/2" squares cut in half. This is just general. Times 50 blocks you can get a guesstamate.

I have this book enroute, I would love to join. One of my bucket list quilts is a PP one, about 50 x 50. It seems this would be a good lead in project. It sounds like fun, altho it will probably be like the pinwheels for me, I gotta lot of pinwheels in the spare bedroom waiting to be made into a quilt...but I know how to make a pinwheel now
