Thanks for the information! I knew software could be bought, but I thought maybe somethings came with the module. I need to go check it out, so I'm more knowledgeable. I really appreciate everyone's input!

Yes, and the software can get rather expensive! She has no contact information on that site - I would love to know what settings she used for the stitches - but I wonder if learning to digitise them was part of the BOM she did at the dealer's or if the dealer gave out the designs to those in the class.

There are also issues with the hoop size, a 7" block has to be multi-hooped unless you own an 8 series with a Jumbo hoop. Even the megahoop isn't wide enough for much beyond a 6" block (luckily what my Sylvia blocks are!), and the large oval cuts the corners off too much to get a full 6" block into it.

I'd be very surprised if she could sell the designs, certainly I haven't seen them anywhere.

I received a catalog from www.ConnectingThreads.com that has beautiful batik fabrics for $5.96 per yard. They also had Solid & Mirage fabrics for $3.96 per yard which are perfect for the background fabric. I am going to order some of the batik.

My book just came in the mail. Hmm... I looked through it and to be honest I was disappointed with the quality of embroidery. And I have lost my enthusiasm for doing this project. But, it could be due to some very heavy things that are going on in my adult kids' lives right now. Please bear with me if I am not too active on here for a bit of time.

Linda....I felt the exact same way when I got the book..I was so disappointed with the quality of the sewing on the blocks. But, you can look at it from 2 stand points.

1. Even though her sewing skills were...well, not the best..the quilt in itself is awesome in spite of it! So you need not be an expert applique person to make a gorgeous quilt.

or...

2. If those blocks resulted in that quilt and your applique technique will be better, than your own resulting quilt will be awesome!

i got over it and decided that I like the patterns. Period. I will put my own slant on it and move forward...look at Lesley's blocks..her quilt will be gorgeous!

So sorry to hear about your current issues...stop on back by when you have time. Sounds like you will need a little spirit lifting...we can at least do that!

Drum roll please, eye candy!

Slight change in color plans, I will be using reds, pinks and whites. :D

I found a background that is white with light pink stripes, pictured in the middle, the swirly fabric on top with be used for my borders! In addition to the fabrics pictured, I will be using fabrics in my stash; plus I ordered 6 more RED fat quarters, online this evening!

I was so impressed with the overall look of the quilt that I felt really challenged. I have ordered black mirage fabric for my background and some batik fabrics plus as my user name implies I have a rather large stash of fabric. My DH keeps asking me when I am going to open a fabric shop?

Thanks for asking that question I was about to ask the same, what is black mirage fabric.

Meredith I love your fabric choices. Do you have a black background, can´t remember what you said now, those will pop.

LindaAnn, sorry you have family problems and as Patti said pop back in if you need a lift, we are all very good at that and I have had more problems than I care to think about and those ladies helped me through it all. I also didn´t care for the book when I got it and in fact dropped out at one point. However I decided to do my own colourways and you will be surprised when you see what other colours do and how it will end up. The book does have some pretty crass sewing, but yours or mine will only be an improvement on that. Lesley´s blocks are fabulous go back and have a look at those that will change your mind

Black Mirage fabric is a tonal/blender fabric group put out by Connecting Threads. It's sort of like Moda Marbles, but slightly different.
