After going to the site please count me in on making the quilt. But can you tell me what the Dear Hannah quilt is all about? Is it just more blocks or is there another theme to it. I could not tell from the Dear Jane site.

this is the info I copied from the EQ site about Dear Hannah:

"Dear Hannah: In the Style of Jane A. Stickle is the next book in the Dear Jane sampler craze. This charming book, by Brenda Papadakis, includes pieced and appliquéd patterns from the quilt she made for her granddaughter, Hannah. The book shows all of the 144 block patterns as well as 48 border triangles and four corner kites. And in classic Dear Jane style, you can read 28 letters from grandmother to granddaughter."

so apparently Brenda Papadakis - the author of both books [Dear Jane and Dear Hannah] was so interested in the style of quilting - size of blocks, number of fabrics, applique, etc. that Jane Stickle used to create her quilt, that she designed one for her own granddaughter 'Hannah.' She also wrote the book the same manner as her Dear Jane book - writing letters to her granddaughter. The Dear Hannah quilt has many more applique blocks and is more pictorial than the Dear Jane quilt is.

I have rulers, book, software, and a few blocks made up many years ago - never really intended to make the whole quilt, love trying different blocks. Maybe I should jump in and work along with all of you - I'll keep watching!

I feel the same way, not really wanting to do a big quilt, & not sure I like the border, lol, but have a done a few blocks & see more I would like to do, so I will be watching too!...

I'm in. I've been working on one the last few months and have 70-something blocks finished, although a lot of those are going to be do-overs. My needle-turned melons leave a lot to be desired! I don't think I could have done any of it without Anina's thatquilt blog. I'm using Civil War fabrics for this one, but I saw one made with pastels on this site that I really loved that I might do this time.

katy....don't do over any blocks until you finish them all....you'll find that many of them will play together nicely and don't need anything....and the others, well, I kept all mine as they were originally done. I think it tells a pretty cool story of my learning curve on the quilt!

I totally agree with Sandpat, Katy! And the other thing is - it is so amazing how much quilting can do not only to enhance [but sometimes camouflage!] There are so many blocks, you are the only one who will notice what you don't like :wink:

I won't redo any til I'm finished, but I did decide that F-6 looked pretty good without the center applique!

I have put both the book and the softwaare on my Christmas wish list. I'd very much like to work on this quilt with the group!! I'm not so sure about the pace you've talked about, but I can try...
