Anne, thanks for posting the letters. I signed up for the Yahoo group but can never remember my password. Plus, they're too quiet-I like our rowdy group. When I did the Christmas tree block I remembered your hint about using crayons to mark the colors for pp. Boy did that help especially since I switched the dark/light placement.

Carrie, sounds like you had a great time. Glad you're feeling better.

Dubib...so glad life has settled down a bit for you and DMIL is home. I'll look forward to seeing your catch up blocks.

Carrie...how inspiring for you. Keep rubbing it off on us.

Hopefully, I'll be catching up with my blocks early next week. It's been so warm here that the garden has had priority and then I'm taking in a free motions quilting workshop this Friday and Saturday....My snap peas are already coming up.

Sewing on FIL memorial table runners this week, trying to catch up for being a couple of months late on that quilting job. Gardnergal, your snap peas are up...good for you. We have had fresh kale from the garden. Did you plant your potatoes on the 17th of March? I missed it this year...maybe on Good Friday I will.

Love the blocks posted; maybe by next week, I can post mine. Love to hear the story from Carrie, meeting the author and getting to talk to her. How wonderful.

My DH put out the first row of potatoes on March 17 and I put out a couple more yesterday. I hope to get the radishes, turnips and other cool crops in yet this week while the weather is still a little cool. It seems like we have instant summer. Last night the window was open with the fan on and I only used a sheet for a cover all night. What will the real summer be like?

CarrieM ... on I know I always hace a gazillion questions. Remember, curiosity killed the cat!!! Though remember too, the cat has nine lives!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all your newsy news of your LAH GTG!!! I was more "kidding" than anything about her finding a PC recipient, being that they'd be over 100 years by now. I just think it'd be a really neat thing, if one of the family members showed up here amidst this group! I really give her credit for "caring" to search out the individuals and their stories. Not many would do that, I'm sure.

I think it'd be such an incredible experience to meet LAH ... sure gives you the personal connection and interest now. As you said, inspired ... and chances are that isn't even a strong enough word for it all. And to be able to see the "real" PC and FWS quilts, it must have been amazing. I'm sure there are very few of us who have seen the work of others doing these quilts. I know I haven't. Although my LQS is now working on some blocks for a sample and hopefully run a PC club in-shop. Don't worry ladies, I'm not jumping ship!!

Good for you for taking your blocks for show and tell ... were there a lot of others with blocks/quilts to show?

We'll all be looking forward to seeing your pics of your day with LAH ... when you get them!

Yeaaaaaaa for getting that perfect sashing! And did you nab the perfect cornerstones too? and setting triangles?

Take care ... and please get over that migraine ... then sew up a storm!!

JanRN ... and you're calling us rowdy? Speak.For.Yourself.Missy!!!!!!!!!!!

GGal and QNinaSue ... I'm green with ency over your gardening and growth already! Generally, we don't plant until after the long weekend in May! Some seeds and hardier things might go in ahead of that, but not much sooner. I did get out into the flowerbeds today for a short while and did some of the spring clean up. March 17th ... so is that the "traditional" day to plant potatoes?

Hey Y'all ... Guess what I found today??? ... my daffodils planted in the lawn are up, and have budded already, showing some yellow. Now that's not good, as we're bound to have a frost and they'll get zapped! At least I can hope and pray!

Exciting News ... and NOT PC related!
Just received an email from an LQS that's not really LQS ... about 1-1/2 hrs away.
In October ... Kaffe Fassett is coming to do two different one day workshops on subsequent days.

This will be the first time I'll have a chance to go to a workshop for someone of that calibre ... no registrations yet ... so need to hope that I hear soon enough to get booked in before it's all full!
