QNS...I too am waiting to get the bonus blocks before I do any final assembly, and having them signed? What a spectacular idea. The block I've planned has plenty of room for my name.
Jan, thanks for the heads up but I think it was very thoughtful of your DGS to ask. I wonder if he even thought about what other people's reactions would be, let alone yours. How is the LA? Is it adapting well to it's new home.

Funny, JanRN, but my face would have turned red, too!! I used to get mad at older women who referred to their husbands, calling them that until we have reached that age ourselves....and as I told my bf, "There is a reason they are called that!" They do get to know how to push our buttons because we have spoiled them so much. I think that is why QB ladies (and gents) have thought up all those "short" terms by letters. Its like the text messages people do today, shorting up words, then use it everywhere else.

My new computer did not put the contact list into ABC order at first...are we not teaching the ABCs any more?? Apparently, not the tech programers who do their own thing. Progress, they call it.

Yes, I want QB names on blocks and dates with permanent pen for my exchange. Some change their name to another on line, and that is OK with me....just when I get an email from them under the 'real' name...it set off an alarm, saying "who is this?" Yes, it has happened to me on this trail, and challenged my mind for a bit, but they were kind enough to write back and inform me of their QB name...straightening out the matter and my poor mind. Yes, the blocks from all of you are very important to me and will give my quilt some real 'class'!

I too had thought about adding the "sign your blocks" to the Bonus Block "details". If someone doesn't want their blocks signed, please let us know. Either way is ok! Right now we have 10 people signed up. I was going to go to the shop that sells KT fabrics last night (during the Choc. Walk as she was on the list), but there was a sign on the door saying she had a prior commitment so was closed. I am sure she was in Des Moines at the big quilt show there this weekend. Guess I'll have to go next week...need some yardage for my bonus blocks.

Jan--I had to share your "FART" story with my family. They thought that was funny too...sorry for your embarrassment! I too would have been bright red!

The Choc Walk last night was fun. We didn't get to all the shops, but got lots of good treats...mini cupcakes at a couple places, little candy bars, breads...there was a chocolate bread pudding that was very yummy at one of the bakeries. I don't know that I have ever had bread pudding before. Popcorn, balloons, a dance, kazoos...

Some shops had sales...got the kids some t-shirts for $2 each and hoodies for $5 each...plus 2 free t-shirts for spending $20. There was a toy store (all educational "toys") that we will go back to. Found out they give a 10% discount for "educators" so since I homeschool can get that.

I went into a new antique store and also a shop that has "art/crafts" made by people in the area. Found out they have classes to teach different things, so got on the mailing list.

My dd's (almost 11) favorite part was going up to a dance studio (teach ballroom dancing). She was dancing around to the music a bit and one of the instructors asked her if she would like to learn how to do the "swing". She said yes and she learned a few steps. I wish I had had my camera...she was so happy.

Didn't get anything at the auction today. There was a great variety, but nothing I felt I just had to have/wanted to wait around for. The one thing I really wanted went for more than I wanted to spend. Do you remember the drawer made into a sewing box I got for my dd on my retreat a couple weeks ago? Well there were 2 drawers just sitting in a bucket with the exact same design/handles as the one I bought. I thought it would have been fun to make a couple more sewing boxes...oh well. I am sure I will find some again now that I have a use for them. I wonder how many I have passed up at garage sales and auctions over the years! My ds said he would help me make lids for them.

Which permanent pens do you use to write on quilts??? I've never done that before so want to get something that is known to work! Thanks!

I have a set of the extra fine Sharpie markers ..... write on the fabric and then heat set with your iron. Some say they are not any good for this, but I tried it on some Mug Rugs and they've been washed lots, without pulling a disappearing act on me!

Thanks QE for tag teaming and answering all the questions. After I wrote everything I was wondering if I was giving TMI (too much information) in regards to life here on the farm--and of course you understand about the collapsing at the End of the Day! I usually don't have trouble sleeping!!
Yesterday DH and I drove to World Dairy Expo for the day. This is the premier dairy event in the world. A multitude of activities take place during the week. The cattle shows of major dairy breeds is the highlight, but there are youth judging contests, forage contests, livestock product booths, well this explains most of it:

Met up with our daughter, who works in the dairy industry, for lunch. We had another "collapse at the end of the day".

Yea for your road trip to WDE. A good reward for you after the big push to get the earlage bagged. It was a highlight for us the few times we did manage to sneak away from the farm and take it in!

Do they still have the art show? I have had random thoughts of Miss Mazel taking a trip to Madison.

Sooooooooo now that you got away to WDE. How about a gad northwards to RAWF?
I'll be there EVERY day, so we could easily meet IRL! Oh how exciting and absolutely wonderful that would be!!!!!!!!!!
