I have a friend who is working on a GFG...she says it will be her "nursing home project" since she'll never get it done with all the other things she needs todo. I think she is using 1 1/2".

I have done crochet since I was little...my great grandmother taught me when I was less than 10 how to just do a chain. Then after I got married (at 18) I visited her with my oldest dd to get "lessons" on reading patterns and learning new stitches. She would have been 91 or 92 (died at 93 less than a month after our 2nd child was born). Probably a year or so after Gr. Grandma died, my grandma gave me Gr G'ma's crochet hooks and the book I learned from...these things are very special to me and I am SO glad that I took the time to spend a few hours each week with her during her last few years. I know that she was happy to visit and see her great-great granddaughter too!

Probably 5 yrs ago I taught myself how to knit. I started a scarf but never finished it. My youngest dd has been crocheting and we were looking for some more yarn and I came across it...I couldn't remember how to knit, so will have to find the book and re-learn!

I'm doin' a GMF. It is my waitin' or travelin' quilt. I never work on it at home. I starch my squares around the hex's. When I need to, I can take a hex template out ,then back in, for ease o' sewin' some o' the other hexes. Hmmm I don't think I'm makin' any since here. I don't trim the edges o' my squares & don't intend to. By the time I finish this I won't feel like hand quiltin' it anyway. My Hex.'s are 2 1/4 ". I figure it will take me years ta finish it. I'm thinkin' o' takin' a break & doin' a hand quilt for a little while. These I also don't do at home, most o' the time.
PS I have been known ta take a sewin' machine ta a hotel room.

Boy, Quilte you really started some chatter. You wouldn't have to make an entire GMF. It's like eating an elephant...one bite at a time. Start with one block and see is the flower grows. It is a nice way to use up scraps...just stay consistent in each flower. This is one of my favorite blocks. I actually have some that my DGM pieced oh so many years ago that my DD has spoken for since she knows I probably won't finish them. That's because they are hand pieced and nothing quite fits if you know what I mean. OKSewglad, I did see one made with three quarter or inch pieces. It was stunning to say the least.
I appreciate all your comments on the 7700 but today I took the car to the shop and there was a family emergency and both came to more than half the cost of the machine which really underscored my decision not to buy it. At this point in my life, the last thing I need is debt.
Here is the promised pic of my FART on Monday. I really enjoyed laying them out again. At the shop there is always the nagging question about choices but this morning without that, I got really excited about how they look together. The piece in the background is the background so there will be a lot of that. The only 2 that aren't KT are the right light prints which I need for the Log Cabin setting blocks. There is nothing really light in the KT line!!!

GG has beautiful new fabric to touch and feel and plan into a new project; Oksewglad has a whole new clean and clear look out her windows; Quilte has dreams of a bag and carry project.

Honchey is wondering about the Seminole block, but it was not hard to do. My Great Great Grandmother (on Mother's side of the family) Clarissa America Hodges Harper was a Seminole Indian. She was about four foot tall...dark skinned. She and her husband, Benjamin Franklin Harper had 15 children. He traded horses, going on trips to trade for more, and worked with leather harnesses and halters.

We have the happiest ducks in, the country... we moved them into our yard away from those terrible turkeys. They will be in the shed with the guineas this winter. Guineas are misbehaving, flying into the chicken yard, hay field behind us and greeting me at the driveway gate...sitting on top of of the gate and being very noisy. Why we are asking ourselves did we want turkeys and guineas on the place??? I am thinking of a neighborhood BarBque and serving up guineas.

And the ducks are just sitting and smiling at the turks and saying hahahahaha ... we're saved, YOU die!
Remind those guineas that they have a choice ... be like the darling ducks or live the life of the turks!!

New Cookie Recipe, Ladies ... tried, tasted and proven by my Cookie Monster Friend ............

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Peanut Butter, Oatmeal and Chocolate Cookies
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This makes a nice soft-crisp cookie with a subtle peanut butter
taste.

Mix together and set aside …

1 cup flour

1 cup old fashioned or quick cooking oats

½ tsp. baking soda

½ tsp. baking powder

¼ tsp. salt

Cream together, then beat til light and fluffy …

½ cup soft butter

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup packed brown sugar

½ cup peanut butter

1 egg

1-½ tsp. vanilla

Gradually beat in flour mixture.

Add and mix in ...

1 cup chocolate chips ( or six squares semi-sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped)

Drop on parchment lined cookie sheet.

Bake at 375F for 10-12 minutes or til lightly browned.

Cool one minute and remove from baking sheets to wire racks.

* Next time, I’ll add some chopped peanuts as well!
* I used the small PC scoop, and baked for about 9-10 minutes.
