That has been around awhile; from the Chit Chat section was another one about "Deer Crossings". Lady called in to a talk show, saying they needed to move all "deer crossing" signs to a less populated area, so the heavy traffic areas would not hit a deer. Seemed to make sense to her. Remember these people love among us, so watch out where you live!!!

Yup ... we'll just tell those deer to cross in a less travelled area!

This past weekend, I did my very last PC block and started working on the bonus blocks. What fun to give some thought to each of you and what might suit you. You'll tell me if I'm off won't you? Started cleaning up the garden and it's supposed to be warm this week so I plan to get the most of it done this week and be quilting again. I made a table runner for a friend a couple of months ago and she asked me to help her with valences in her kitchen. We're meeting today at the LQS to get the fabric and I can finish selecting fabric for the bonus blocks. I was thinking of Carrie also. How did the retreat go this time?

I had a great weekend ... productive too!
Got WORK done ... the paying stuff.

Plus .... did some sorting/organizing in my sewing room!
It had become the sign workshop when I was making them and then I started to just abandon stuff.
And you know what happens when that starts ... it gets worse!
I'm coming closer to doing some stitching! And that is already making me feel much better.

Soooon!

CarrieM ... oh do tell us about your retreat!

Me again ... with a recipe request!

Does anyone have a Crockpot Macaroni and Cheese recipe .... where you put everything in the crock together, including the macaroni being uncooked?

I have one like that for lasagna ... though I know the cooking time for Mac and Cheese, may not be feasable for the milk and cheese

I can always hope that one of you kitchen gurus happen to have one!

THANKS!!!!!!!!

Hello All

Sorry I didn't check in this past weekend! When I got a chance to sit down and work I tried to get as much done as I could. Crystal and I were hosting this retreat, so I had a lot of getting up to help with this or do that...I don't mind at all as it was a great/fun weekend!! I think I got a little spoiled in September going to a retreat where I didn't have to worry about food being ready on time or picked up after meals. We had 23 ladies attend this time...the most we've ever had! Everyone had a good time and we even had 8 make deposits for our March retreat already! We have to have a min. of 20, so it is a relief to know that we are about half-way there.

We do a "secret sister" where everyone fills out a questionnaire about themselves ahead of time, we draw names, and send info out to the right person. My SS gave me some really fun stuff. Since most of our attendees are scrapbookers instead of quilters, I was very specific on a couple small things I could use (like sewing machine needles, bobbins, etc), plus got some of my favorite snack foods usually in containers using my favorite colors...she did a good job! The person who I had seemed to be pleased with what I gave her too. We put a $20 limit on it so no one goes too overboard.

I was able to get 5 PC blocks finished (just have 2 blocks left and that will make 63), plus the middle of one of my quilts is together...I haven't unpacked my sewing stuff yet, so don't have a picture, but will share later today. Yesterday after getting home we unloaded everything but I only unpacked the house stuff (food, bedding, clothes, etc), ate lunch and took a 2 hr nap.

We figured out a menu ahead of time and have people sign up to bring food for meals (this helps so we don't have to charge for all the meals). Thursday night we just do pizza for supper. Friday meals: continental breakfast and potato bar for lunch and then had the camp cook supper...baked chicken, corn, mashed potatoes, salad bar and homemade rolls with chocolate cake for dessert. Saturday: egg casseroles (made by a group of ladies in crockpots) and muffins, soup and sandwiches for lunch, and again the camp made supper: spaghetti, garlic bread, salad bar and apple crisp. Of course there were lots and lots of snacks too!!

Today it is raining and probably will most of the day, so I will get laundry started and then go to the clubhouse to get things in order again. DH took the day off work to see me since I was gone all weekend so can't stay out there all day! We had talked about cutting/splitting firewood, but guess we won't be doing that now since all is wet. Not sure what else we'll do. No school since Papa's home...kids are ok with that.

I tried to get pictures of my blocks as I finished them, so will get them posted in the appropriate threads....

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Thanks all for asking about my retreat. I spent time last night trying to catch up on the weekend chatter here...

Wow...lots of responses while I was writing my "book" about the retreat.

Congrats to those who have all their blocks done now! When I get 2 more done I will be finished with what I need for my two quilts (35 for one and 28 for the other). Originally I was going to make them all thinking I would use 45 in each quilt, but they would have been too big.

I have ideas for my bonus blocks, but haven't actually bought the fabric for them yet. I am really excited to see what you all come up with.
