JeanieG ... nice blue burst around that horse! And another basic black phone.

Honchey ... Holiday Mode + Sister Time + The Great Debate + Merlot = One mixed up brain
You have your defence now!
All that matters is that you are having a great week with your Sis!

QuiltE, my phone was a dark blue, not black...spiders and their webs were black. Yes, I do remember the old black wall hanging phones that you had to ring by rotating a small handle on the side to get the 'operator' to answer you to connect with your party, but there was eight to ten others on the party line also, so you had to listen to see if anyone was using the line, before ringing the operator to put your call through. Some busy bodied persons listened all the time, so they could gossip about your business, but in the case of emergency and needing help, they came through with flying colors to organize help and send it right away to your doorstep.

My gm worked one day as an 'operator'...a lady called her to be connected with the 'doctor'....so she rang up the doctor's and his wife answered the phone...the lady was his secret girlfriend...and the secret was out, and gm got fired for putting the lady through. Then she tired to be a postal clerk and was too short to reach as high as they had too then.

Hi, I'm back home now...my haircut is very nice....I'm tired from the drive...have to unpack the car tomorrow morning...will be going to the store to pick up some"brooklyn lanterns" the ones advertised on tv...We might lose electric over the weekend because of the upcoming storm and don't want to be without lights at night...Hubby will be bringing in some wood to warm the house if we need to...My sister cancelled her trip to Florida...she needs to be home ..she lives close to the water and her basement needs the pumps going if it floods. This storm is supposed to be a whopper! they are calling it "Frankenstorm" & the "Perfect Storm" I wish I had a handcrank for my Singer 66 machine..then I could sew....

I remember the pay phones that only took a nickle to make a call...anyone remember the first phone number you had when you were a kid??? I know we had the phones to match whatever color the kitchen was painted...that's where the phone was and it had a 25 foot cord that always got tangled...gosh, that was eons ago...

Honchey, I second Mirabelle's thoughts. I've been watching the weather channel and it sure doesn't sound good. My first phone number was 4 shorts but I was too short to answer the phone since it was the old wooden box attached on the wall. Even after our system was updated it was still a party line and Mom wouldn't let us use it like kids do today. It was only for necessary or emergency communications. I still don't spend a lot of time talking on the phone.
JanR...will the winds affect you? They're showing such a large area.

GG - your remarks remind me of my dad! He did not like us kids to talk on the phone - he said the same thing - it was for necessary or emergency communications, not chit-chat! We had one phone, and it was on the kitchen wall. My how times have changed! Now everyone has a phone in his/her pocket, and many do not have a land line!
