Believe it or not, after 40+ yrs of marriage I'm just learning to cook!!!! I worked full-time until 3 yrs ago so supper was always quick-sandwiches, left overs from the week-end, pasta, you know easy things. Since I only work 1 or 2 days a week now I decided to learn to really cook good, healthy food. I love to cook now. My crockpot is my best friend LOL. I also have time to try new recipes and have even been making bread. (This is all probably normal behavior for all of you but this is all new to me!) I wonder, though, why I've gained 10 pounds in the last 3 yrs??????

New conversation around the campfire
I printed off next week's pattern and the 3 others I'm behind on tonight, then picked fabrics for the 3 blocks. Because I'm cutting those little squares out I now have 30 fabrics in 10 blocks! Yikes!!!! At this rate that could be 270 fabrics in this baby. Guess I had better start reusing some of my fabric choices! Good night all.

Well I made it home (just) was stuck on the highway for 2 hours as there was an accident (yes a very very bad one) and I was only 10 minutes out of town. Home for about an hour when there is a news report that the highway is closed due to flooding. So as it is just 9am in the morning but feels more like 6pm as it is so dark and stormy I am going to hide out in my sewing room and do some PC blocks.

Plenty of food in the house so don't have to venture out in this weather. I love to cook and my family love to eat so it is a good combination. Last night we had crumbed barramundi which my DH had caught the day before, nothing like FRESH fish. Just don't have any marshmallows so if anyone has lots can you please send them my way. mmmm hot chocolate sounds good

Wow Mirabelle, I was wondering if ya could send some of that rain here???? You have way to much & we have dried up lakes!!! Actually 2 are dry & one is at 21% capacity. These 3 lakes supply the water for about a 300 mile radius. I guess the one thing we can't control is the weather.

PS Sending virtual marshmallows!

Thanks for the marshmallows Bev, I guess thats what I get for living in the tropics. We had about 14 inches of rain for January, February has started with about 5 inches in the past few days. Now the news report tonight said there was a "weather event" sitting off the coast, hopefully it is going out to sea and not forming into a cyclone and come back at us.
We have only lived in this town for 7 years and in that time we have seen 2 cyclones, last year Cyclone Yasi was a category 5 which hit just 20 miles north of us, we still had a lot of damage in our little town, localised flooding every year and in 2009 the whole town flooded and we were isolated for 10 days. We had 3 feet of water in our yard, lucky none in our home.
Gee and we moved from the desert for a sea change
Now back to that sewing, I seem to be taking 2 steps forward and 3 steps back today. I just don't seem to be able to settle when the weather is like this. Maybe tomorrow I will have a better day

So I'm sitting very close to the fire having hot chocolate without marshmallows!
The cold in Europe has made national news here in the US. Stay warm and safe.
