Guys, When PPing I used to just mark the sections with pencil...then I got smart and started using the Crayola colored pencils that I originally bought for my grandchildren..They are more into crashing cars & trucks than coloring. there are 24 colors in a box..No more confusion...When PPing alot of little triangles...I cut strips the length of the fabric I'm using generally on the straight grain and the width 1/2 " wider than the size needed..I find there's less waste that way.

Hey ya'll, I started PP!!
Mon. night I did the A section of Broken Heart. When I finished I realized that I had the seam allowance too small! I redid it again last night, & got it right! I looks great, now ta do the rest. I plan ta sew all afternoon today!

Broken heart just about did me in. I was so pleased when I found a dark green in the stash to match the toile to do this block. There wasn't much of it, but enough. Then I promptly wrote on the back of the paper where to put the dark, but I did it exactly backwards. So I followed my incorrect markings correctly ,made the flying geese sections, went to put them together with the corner squares, realized they were wrong. So I had to pick out the tiny pp stitches as I needed to salvage the dark green. Ack.

After that, Boy's Playmate was a walk in the park.

You'll see what I had to do when I post the pictures. I wasn't about to do the flying geese again. I thought I had them vanquished for the day when the Boy's Best Friend went together like a breeze but they were just hiding in my Civil War Quilt! They just wouldn't go away so I finally quit for the day but Miss Froggy is waiting this morning before I can do anything else. What a way to start the day.
I'm laughing here; glad you have a great sense of humor!

Yeah, I'm doing something right, Honchey. I cut strips like you suggest and then used my Easy Angle and Companion Angle rulers to cut the triangles depending on where I wanted the grain line to be. Thanks for the color tip, H and QE.

I am highly frustrated because I finished my blocks, put them into Picaso (I think) but cannot find them again to post here. Lettering on this new Dell and System 7 windows is too small. Sp I am eating chocolate and thinking. Instead picture files (FWPQ) are dupicating themselves worse than rabbits. Love what has been posted here.

I remember almost how to get into the programming and increase the size of the text; tried repeated though personcalize on right click and that does not do the trick. Any suggestions here? Maybe I can rember in a week or two.

Finally, with dh help traced down where the photo was and it worked to post. Like the blind leading the blind. Must eat more carrots, cannot see with my one eye very well today. Hope for tomorrow and better day than today.

Love all the posted blocks. Just had to use my valentine cloth and put a broken heart (s) into my block.

About the Bird's Eye next week, I found when I did my circles that if i had the circle on top of the cut out background and made sure I had the centers of each piece matched and pinned and kept the square edge of the block square, the 1/4 inch seam allowed for it to be eased without a problem. This is probably as clear as mud but don't be afraid of the Bird's Eye. It's much easier than the flying geese that were in the Broken Heart!

I do my flying geese the way Alex Alexander and R. Tibbs show on U-Tube as the English way...making a little "book" out the the "covers" of side color and fold an oblong fabric piece right side up between the layers of the "book", sew on one side and open up to be a "flying geese" made. Love it.
