dublb, Just because you are taking a class and starting a new project, it doesn't mean that it needs to be a UFO! lol C'mon, be positive, make it your present WIP and keep at it until it's done. We will root for your success! :-)
I'd like to hear all your tips you learn in class, because I have two lone star UFOs. :-p

The storm was pretty bad on the Gulf coast where it hit land, but up here, 150 miles inland, we only got a day of constant drizzle. Not even wind, thank goodness. The ground did get saturated, but haven't seen any flooding like they thought we might have. Last night a small tree fell over and took out power in our area, but they got it back on pretty quickly. One casualty of that was our modem. It was plugged into a surge protector, but maybe it wasn't any good any more... When the power came back on, the modem fried. Bummer. But it could have been worse!

We are not on the wining side here; too dry for farmers all summer and now we have so much rain, they cannot get into their fields here. No floods, 'cause the ground was too dry. Our ducks are happy critters. Young pullets are beginning to lay. Fresh tomatoes from my dh Beef Master plant. Oh, they taste so good!

The list of Dr.'s is growing that I have seen or going to see, but my Dr. should tell me the score by the 18th of the month. Then I will decide what I am going to do at that time. Maybe on the 10th I will have time to stop by a couple of quilt shops and see some different fabrics then.

OH Sue! We will be praying for ya.
I had a great time learning the QuiltSmart method of making a Lone Star. I have 1.75 of the 8 diamonds together. Tomarrow we are gonna learn how to sew the background on. She said that we have 2 of 'em done to do that. Yup, I have another UFO.

DH & I walked this morning. We haven't walked since the Midland trip. Either we had things to do or DH felt bad. Yesterday he woke up at 1:00 am so he really didn't feel like walking at 7:00am. I am glad we finally walked today.

DD called & said that Brady was gonna have a first responders parade. It was called at short notice so not very many people went. DD picked me up to go w/'em. She said that she had already told the kids about where she was on 911 & wanted me to tell 'em about where I was when it happened. She had timers set for the time of each event that happened that morning. They stopped & prayed at each moment & then she explained what had happened at each time. We actually missed the timer for the time when the plane crashed in Pennsylvania as our local first responders were passing us at that moment, so she went over that event after we got back to the car. The kids were interested, listening & asking great questions. Then they asked to see some videos. We were headed to get drinks by that time so when we got there DD grabbed her tablet & found a few videos. They were as shocked as we were to see those building fall.

DD dropped me off at home & they went back to their house to do the rest of their home-school work. DD said that this was gonna be all the history that they were gonna do today. I had a few things to do here then it was lunch time. After lunch I headed to DD's house & we started unpacking boxes & boxes of books. The thing is her DBIL & his family are coming for a visit on Friday. She has to get the upstairs organized. She does have the dividers at the end of the upstairs to create a bedroom. It is a big bedroom measuring about 14' X 18'. The rest of the upstairs is a huge school room & I think it measures 12' X 20'. She has 6 huge bookcases along 1 wall & we filled 'em. There are more boxes of books. I have 2 bookcases in my storage unit here in Brady so I am gonna give those to her. We also organized other boxes of stuff that had been carried upstairs. We got DD's fabric stash & Christmas stuff into the huge closet that is up there. We got all the school stuff moved to the area that she wants it all set up at. It is still a mess but at least we know what area we are gonna work on tomarrow. Oh we did unpack a bunch of DSonIL's electronics & those go in that bedroom as it also gonna be his music/computer room. We will most probably get the bedroom all straight & the air mattress inflated on Thurs.

At 4 I left, went & got DM & we walked. She is up to 4minutes & 10 seconds of a fast paced walk w/a 5 minute cool down. (When we first started she was doing 3:00 at a medium pace then the 5 minute cool down.) The cool down today included buying some chrysanthemums. She said that she is gonna plant 'em but I don't see that happening. I think DH is gonna have to do that for her.

I did not go into the quilt stores on the 10th of Sep when I was driven to Des Moines for my skin cancer appointment; I was cleared with no new skin cancer spots. But I am making slow progress on the Bible Sampler:
If you enlarge the photo you can read the block number and name. Fish, the last one above, I had to paper piece and it was a holy terror in trying to fit all the Y seams together. They all finish as a 6 inch block. Whew!

And now a lovely picture of a tiger lily:New our flower bed even with the drought we had back in August.

dublb, That sounds like quite an event for the 09/11 remembrance. Yes, it seems like a good history lesson for home schooled children, or anyone.

QNS, Great blocks! It looks like the 6" Bible block series has lots of pieces just like the 1930s Sampler did. I've always loved that fish block-- it's on my to-do list, if I ever get to it though, I don't know.

QNS, great news that you have no new skin cancer spots! My dad used to have his treater often. He picked cotton as a kid here in Mississippi and the damage was done then. Stay out of the sun!

Love your pretty blocks, especially the fish. They look very hard to make.

Great MD report, QNS! Your color selection wonderful as always

It's so unfortunate that we have to remember these awful moments is history, but so important that we do.

I have so many fabric scraps that I started cutting some of them up. The largest piece is 5" wide...charm squares and 5 x 10 pieces. Have I shared this free pattern? I've sewn a couple of them at work. Think it would make a great scrappy quilt and use yardage for the jelly roll.

http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/SHOP...ern-56-5-by-70

Then I'm cutting the left overs into other widths...I've got lots of ideas based on the white strippy quilt I shared earlier...the first panto quilt I did.

Better call it a day soon...work tomorrow.
