Sue, who are you sending boxes to? Maybe they would be willing to pay their own shipping? Or perhaps local donation would be simpler? Shipping is so expensive. I just spent nearly $20 to send a small box to my daughter, only 3 hours away.

So sweet, SBG! Wow you are one great G'ma! I sure hope you wil be able to share your talents with those little girls one day. It's so satisfying.

Today "no school"...again. DIL slid into the ditch between the two farms last night...ice on gravel roads and rain do not mix. Road graders showed up around 10:00. Maintainers can't go out until the County office sends them. County office is located on nice hard surface roads...not the rural messes we have to deal with...okay...that's enough grumbling. DIL did get to work around noon, so kids on their own again today. Had them here for spaghetti and veggies. Three went home with dad, but the budding sewers stayed and 10 yo got her pillowcases (4), starched, pressed, cut and pinned in the sausage roll ready to sew. Meanwhile 13 yo starched and pressed her fabrics and have about half of her quilt cut out. Little one was complaining she was tired...of course she was it was almost 5:00. The afternoon flew. Hopefully we can continue this weekend.

Oh another no school day today. Rain, melting snow still affecting country roads (gravel) May have some flooding across roads later, too. What a winter! So guess we will sew today.

Last night got the binding sewn on denim quilt for nephew. I used a bag of denim jeans on this...yeah! More empty space. I used the same technique as I did on the homespun quilt. It's so "thoughtless" and mindess...in other words...easy. Okay need to get ready to sewers!

Progress on the Christmas Burg. It will be seven rows down, I think. Two with centers pinned on them are:And the five rows done are:Side view: So its deciding time, do I want seven rows or not; I could stop with the five by five. Pattern is readable on either way. Loved the snow people and red birds to finish it off on Christmas memories.

OK, be safe. Snow melting all at once in NE and in Iowa makes flooding on lower plains a reality. Prays for all who is affected by it.

Thank you, SBG. Question is the five or seven rows?

Sorry that I haven't been around. My computer is in the shop. DH decided to order a used back up computer. He got it for about a third of the original cost. I don't know when mine will be back from FL but in the mean time I have this one. It has a smaller screen but is better'n my phone! I just got so tired of fighting my phone that I quit posting.
SBG your knitted figures are so adorable! That is gonna be one spoiled baby. But isn't that what DGK's are for?
Sue I love your Christmas Burg surround! I guess the question about whether to use 6 or 7 rows depends on how far ya want the drop to be on the bed. I personally love the idea of 7 rows as I like me quilts to drop down quit a bit. It's your quilt so you have to be the one is happy w/it. (Also if you are just tired of making those blocks the 6 rows are enough.)

I like the symmetry of 5x6, but if you want the quilt long enough to tuck around pillows, maybe seven rows... I'd make 6 rows first and connect them, and then see how I felt about it.

(Wishy-washy answer, huh?)
