SBG-I have done it your way as well. No hand sewing for this gal with arthritic fingers.

I will also show how to do it by machine. I just have planned this one to be done by hand for a long time. I will do a couple of 4 block wall hangings that are done different ways.

SBG, we have a kitty that sounds like the one you mentioned. She has a tiny head, paws, and tail but her belly is enormous! The problem right now is we're feeding our older boy a lot more because he needs it and so Baby eats way too much. She waddles. Her brother is very different. He only eats when he's hungry and he's long and lean. We need to get this girl on a diet but right now it's a challenge. Carmello is getting near the end so it will be awhile before we do WW on her

Here are a couple pictures I took while walking around the yard w/the dogs after a light rain the other day...if you can zoom in you can see water droplets on both.

I finished getting borders on the Sunflower D9P today...the outer yellow isn't exactly what I was wanting but the darker yellow I used in the quilt was sold out. I will binding with the same light yellow and use orange flannel for backing.

Also finished up the 2nd Illusions lap quilt top today.

Tomorrow I'll get the bindings made for all three so they are ready to go on when I get them quilted. After that I am going to get some sashing put on Kaleidoscope blocks I started a long, long time ago!! My goal is to get this top together by the end of the week...then Laura goes back to FL and my sewing time will be limited next week w/MIL having 2nd cataract surgery and 2 other appts next week.

I had a great Mother's day. Mike grilled steak for DM, DD & I. Alright, he grilled steak for all of us but in honor of DM, DD & I.
I did go & get
#1DSon yesterday. It was a nice trip except for the 45 minutes that we locked the keys in the truck. We has stopped at a convenience store in Tolar TX. #1DSon & I had a miscommunication about the keys & they stayed in the truck when he locked it. He truly thought I had 'em. Anyway a guy had a break in kit but my locks were stubborn. Eventually another guy got the end of his fishing pole & fished my keys to the crack they had made between the door & the body of the truck. For those who I haven't met IRL, I have a big stinking wad of keys & keychains. (Which is why #1DSon didn't want to carry 'em around.) Anyway Micah & the guy w/the fishing pole were trying to maneuver the key fob through the crack when the first guy just grabbed the door & pulled it wide enough that they got the keys out! Those guys wouldn't let us pay 'em a thing!
After we got home Mike grilled chicken for us. DD brought the kids over & we all sat outside talking for a long time. (DSonIL is working outta town so he wasn't here.)
I was up a li'le bit after everyone went to bed. I guess I crawled into bed at around 1:00. Well around 3:00 DM called & her Blood pressure was up. I got dressed faster'n I remember in a long time. I picked her up & got her to the ER fairly quickly. I got her back home & waited till I knew she was good before I came home. I crawled back into bed at 6AM & slept till noon.

Pretty flowers, Carrie, and your yellow quilt is lovely.

Gee Bev, that was an eventful Mother’s Day! Glad your Mom got taken care of, and you got to catch up on some sleep!

Well I accomplished my goal of getting one kaleidoscope quilt top together. I have a plan for the 2nd one...originally this was to be a king-sized quilt for our bed but then after getting dogs who sleep in our bed I've decided 2 twin-size work better so we can both be covered up. I am not putting this box back on the shelf until the other top is done!!!

Also here is a quilt top my daughter (17) made on the couple days she could join Laura and I sewing over the last couple weeks.

I'll be quilting/binding the Sunflower D9P this week and next so it will be all ready for gifting on June 8th....hopefully I can get a couple family members to help me sandwich the quilt Monday evening since Tuesday is the only day this week I have time to sew!

I too love your quilts Carrie. That is a good idea about doing 2 different quilts for the 2 of ya.

[h=3]Post by dublb on 27 minutes ago[/h] We got rain again yesterday. It rained another inch & a half. While it hasn't rained in a few days, our ground is saturated. The temps dropped down a bit. We are back in the Mid 70's today. It will be back up to 80 tomarrow. The thing is it is more humid also. That is something that I'm not used to.
On my way back from dropping #1DSon off in Ft Worth I took a moment to stop in Whetherford. There is a neat store there that I love. It is an Ace Hardware store but also sells some grocery's, Wranglers Jeans, some western cloths, some guns & ammo, & (most importantly) some LQS quality fabric. It is outta print fabric so the prices are lower. The Moda is 8.99 a yard. I bought 5 yards of some 108" backing fabric for 13.99 a yard. Now when I pulled up in the parking lot I noticed that they also had a ton of St Augustine sod in the parking lot. DH & I have been looking for some St Augustine Sod for a bit & haven't found any around here. We didn't need very much. Well I came home w/10 squares of it. Wouldn't ya know it, when I got back, there was some St Augustine spotted at 2 different places here in town. Most of what I bought is still in the carport but yesterday morning I heard the thunder for the storm that was coming so I grabbed one of those sod squares & got it planted in one of the bare spots in the yard. 1 down & 9 to go. I am glad that it was planted before the rain. I wish we had the rest planted. OH well we will plant a few more in complete squares & will plug some others in. We are kinda funny as we don't care which kind of grass we have as long as it is green & hold out in the heat. I was ready for a shower then for sure. Well it started raining as soon as I got the grass in the ground. It was a bad storm & we were under a tornado watch. I didn't want to get in the shower & have to get out w/shampoo in my hair & be wrapped in a towel to get in a closet if a tornado came, so I waited. (No tornado touched down anywhere close to us.)
After my shower I worked all day on getting ready for that QAYG class. It is coming up on Tues.
