QNS your hubby has a green thumb. How nice that he creates beauty. Mine only creates mayhem and destruction! He makes a good cup of tea tho, so I guess I can't complain too much.

Lovely flowers, QNS....I have dandelions.....Orioles are emptying their nectar feeders with hummers help, finches are chowing down the nyger seed, asparagus is finding its way to the dinner table. Sunday night had a bad frost..killed some of my tomato plants in my portable green house. Today's agenda...mow lawn, work in the garden, oh dear list is too long not sure if it will all get done...get my sewing fix at work, but it's not sewing for me......I'm going to enjoy the sunshine...have a great day every one...

Nina, I purchased some Peonies and are still in the bag with moss? and it says I can plant them in June at the latest..I want to plant them in NC..will that be too late? or should I plant them in a planter now and transfer them when I get to NC?

Honchey, put them into a greenhouse 5 gal pot if you have one... or a pot about that size that will start them there, then move the pot and plant to NC. That will let it grown until you can pot it in NC Always leave it within a inch or two from the top, root side down. If you leave it in the plastic, you risk drying the root out so it will not grow. Just my two cent worth of advice. Love peonies...they were among the first things I planted here. Unfortunately, after they bloom, its just the greenery for the rest of the summer. I end up trimming them down in late July.

I am trying to get late summer plantings done to replace early bloomers in my perennial beds. I hope the Coral bells will bloom this summer. Love their leaf color. Meanwhile, the annuals of Marigolds and Cockscomb will serve to add color.

Here is a recent school picture of my great niece Jessica outside with her band class. She has now been in a medically induced coma for 15days on a respirator. All I knew was the double pneumonia, but it was written that she had that plus influenza, and staff.

Jessica is the one on the left.

Shes a precious girl, Susan. I hope they get everything taken care of and when she wakes up she won't remember any of this misery. Praying her body will be strong and will fight hard.

Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers. She has her hair pulled back in the picture. She has pretty shoulder length hair. 🌻

JuneBillie - she is just darling. I am praying that she recovers completely! It is so hard when loved ones are in the hospital. It really wears you out going back and forth, and worrying!

At Saint Mary's Church, they have a weekly husband's marriage seminar. At the session last week, the Priest asked Luigi, who was approaching his 50th wedding anniversary, to take a few minutes and share some insight into how he had managed to stay married to the same woman all these years.
Luigi replied to the assembled husbands, "Well, I've a-tried to treat-a her nice, spend the money on her, but best is that I took-a her to Italy for the 20th anniversary!"
The Priest responded, "Luigi, you are an amazing inspiration to all the husbands here! Please tell us what you are planning for your wife for your 50th anniversary ."
Luigi proudly replied, "I'm a-gonna go and get her."

Cute, Nina Sue! That's one way to achieve maritial harmony...

Good morning everyone. A friend is taking me out to lunch today, to a new tea room. Tomorrow is a sew day with my quilting group... woo hoo! Looks like a fun weekend is shaping up for me.

Our weather has been amazing here for Mississippi in May! So lovely and cool. Normally we'd be sweltering by May. Yesterday I taught yoga in the park and the weather was just fantastic to be outside! Wish we could keep this all through the summer.

We are back in Midland. It started raining late Tues evening, rained all day wed & most of Thurs morning. Thures afternoon we mowed. DH mowed the yards while I rode the riding mower & mowed the lots. I am not happy about the height of the riding mower. I mowed it at the highest setting but it was only about 2 inches high. There were several wildflowers that wouldn't have been mowed down if the setting was 4 or 5 inches. I did ask about the height of the mower when we bought it. There were some ugly weeds that were in the lots that had to come down. They are tall & you couldn't see the the wildflowers anyway.

They told us it was going to rain today but instead the weather was beautiful! We did get a lot of rain this week.

Here's what I've been working on, the Scrappy Mountain Majesties. I'm taking it to group tomorrow, along with the red, white and blue top I made, and another lady in the group is going to quilt them for me on her longarm. That's two less that I have to do on my machine... We are trying to get some men's quilts together quickly for the hospital we donate to. They are out of mens quilts.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Oh gosh SBG - that is really a masculine looking quilt. Is that one of Bonnie Hunter's free patterns? Great job, someone will really love it!

sewbizgirl, Love your quilt. I have plaids and they would make a great quilt for my grandson. Thanks for the idea.

Thank you. Yes, it's one of Bonnie Hunter's free patterns. I used shirts but there are lots of pretty variations posted on Pinterest.

Looks like we all have some plaids to use up...nice quilt SBG...thanks for the inspiration...old shirt quilts are very soft and cuddly especially if one puts flannel on the back.

School's out next week. Emily is ready to work on her quilt. She chose fabric last fall after watching Nancy Zieman put together a Quick Column quilt. She chose solid fabrics for the Heartbeat version...her focus fabric is a bright aqua...will be fun to see it come together...can't believe she already 12. I asked Elise if she wanted to sew something. She's thinking about it...she's 10 now...both are in 4-H and fair is in a month...

    https://books.google.com/books?id=FF...page&q&f=false

I'm working on a bag made from upholstery samples..I used press on vinyl on it as some fabrics are light colored...found a nice floral in my stash that will be used for lining and outer band and handles...Will take picture when done it's been a UFO for a while...
