This is how my FWS is looking now. The block in the lower left corner is pinned to the sashing, it won't stay like this
    What do you all think?

Anael, I really like that setting for your quilt. Love the white sashing--didn't think I would but it really makes your blocks shine. Thanks for the great family pic--it was like getting a Valentine on a dreary March day. Your smiles could light up a city block.

Jeanie, glad the PT is helping. I know it's a PITA to keep doing but think of the progress you've already made!

QNS, you are one incredible host--would love to show up for dinner at your house. Confession here: I've never tasted Corned Beef! On St. Pat's day this Italian gal will probably have pasta. I know--I'll make spinach ravioli so we have something green LOL.

Happy week-end all-don't drink too much green beer (yuck!).

QNS...my corned beef will get cooked tomorrow. Enjoy your company. They are lucky to have you for a stopping place. I agree with JanRn. Virtual meals with you are fun but IRL I bet they are tasty! Sounds like your PC is coming right along. I'm seeing some sprouts if green here too. Time to prune the berries.
Jeanie...how nice that your PT is helping. You will enjoy everything much more!
Mirabelle....are there enough Irish Catholics in your country that St. Patricks day is an event there? Not every town here does but in Chicago, they even dye the river green!
Honchey...I can hear your chuckle way out here. I'm glad you're getting some extra kicks for your work.
Anael....I agree with Jan. The white makes all of the colors pop. You haven't mentioned Mick for awhile. How is he doing?
OK...I'm trying the two window approach this morning and it isn't working but it did yesterday. It's memory is shorter than mine.
i did finish the flimsy of the quick quilt yesterday and found backing in my stash that is appropriate. Still have to measure and stitch it together. It will go to the quilter next week. Pieced a backing for another top I had done and it too will go to the quilter next week. Love getting things to the next step! Have a good day!

Like your layout and colors, Anael.

JanRN, no green beer here. At Rolla State college in Missouri, it is always served there. Big time thing there, celebrating St Pat's day.

Short two blocks of the 90 needed on the pony quilt. Will think of something there...thnk i will take it to Des Moines to be quilted also at Creekside, so it matches up with the FWQ. (gee, can you tell my left shift capital key is not working??)

GardenGAl, you are not that far from us, maybe you need a road trip this way? GrannyQ is in the 'neighborhood' too. We taught at Harmory, Farmington, iowa, that is in her conference school area....in fact, i took my student librarians to Fairfield junior high for a day of classes there....i took them to two or three different schools in the conference area to show them that teenagers had a lot of things common to all. Encouraged them to run for state office, and took them to Des Moines for their meetings. But that was back in the early 70s. and is ancient history now.

    Thank you all!

@GG: Mick is doing ok. He's used to my DS and DDIL going away all the time. Once a week he's visiting Bram and Isa too and he loves it. When you ask him where Bram and Isa are, he looks at you and says: with the doctors!

Oh Anael, that is so wonderful that Mick gets to see his sister and brother weekly! I'm sure once they come home, it will be a different story! My daughter once said that Will, her oldest, told her to take those twins back to the "ospital", he did not want them anymore! He is three years older than his siblings! LOL

Our oldest daughter said that about her 23 month younger sister; 'Take HER back" and never changed her mind. Alas!! life goes on. Should adopted a boy older than first one...almost did, but we moved out of state.

i just finished the new mystery block; and ready to sent it off. Except I love the pattern and will make some more...since i am not a math major...if I forget to count the number I make, do i 'hafta' stop at one???????? Wanna make more....and more...I see a new quilt in my future...it is just so easy...

JeanieG I am so glad your hands are feeling better, keep going with your PT it will be worth it.

GGal they celebrate St Patricks Day out here in a big way, but not where I live. This town is 80% Italian population and if that is an exaggeration then maybe 70%

Anael I love your block layout it looks nice and light and fresh, well done. I am sure Mick will adjust to his brother and sister when they come home.

QNS I agree about liking our MB's, my DH loved the first one I made and said I should make a whole quilt like it. Only one problem, I only had a FQ of the main fabric so may have to search out something similar.

I am off to the sewing room, wanted to get 3 blocks quilted yesterday but only managed 2, it is a bit slow going, will take a pic today and let you all see how it is progressing

Forgive me Ladies, for I have sinned ....
(with apologies to any Catholics who are disgusted at my praphrasing)
This past week, I showed a piece of fabric that my personal shopper (CarrieM!!!) purchased for me that I was thinking of using for something for the Story of Butter display again this summer .... and we got talking about patterns and designs. I couldn't wait ... and I was just testing a few blocks to see. Well, you know the story ... a few became a few more and then .......... I was hooked!

So much for finishing UFOs and not starting anything new! In my own defense, it HAD to be done (for August, not now!) ... so good progress has been made as iit is together, except for the borders. Will be about 50x60 (I think!) .... and I've decided to call it "Out to Pasture". So, I'll let you put 2+2 together as to what that might mean, til it's ready for a photo op!

And to think my final two PC blocks elude me ... and then onwards to the sashing.

MiraB ... I'm with you, so many times I wish someone would whip me up a good supper! So was Anael advising to help coordinate your fabric and block choices with the one already made for your MB Pardner? Good idea!

Anael ... 8 weeeeeeeeks!!! wheeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!! Happy Campers!! Your FWS is going to look great with it done that way. Happy to hear about Mick too. So important he visits Bram and Isa regularly too!

GGal ... We've got almost duplicate machines as I have the 6600. Love it! Just wish it had the bigger throat ... and why I drool over JanRN's Sweet16!!!

Honchey ... thanks for sending me ____________'s name as my April MB Pardner!! I've got my block picked out, though have not searched my stash for fabrics yet. Thanks for the extra machine info. An example of duplicate machines would be the HQ Sweet 16 and Baby Lock Tiara. As far as I can figure out there is not difference. Though that double branding happens in most other machines too. Even cars! ENJOY you St. Patrick's feast with all! BTW ..... I can hear you snickering all the way, up here, that you know all about who is partnered with whom! We're just going to have to do something to YOU, to give you some MORE FUN!!!!!!!!! And yes, I AM having FUN ... and looking forward to a year of it!

QNSue ... Great progress on your sashing. Great plan to take your PC for LAQ as part of that FART!!! Did you find the missing sashing you needed? Or what did you decide to do? How nice that your friends can visit you, while in the area for the funeral. Lucky them to be able to enjoy your Irish feast!! Very tempting to hear about your signs of spring!

JanieW ... and how was your FART with your DS?

JeanieG ... great news about your hand PT results! Keep it up!!!!!!

JanRN ... no special Irish meal here for me either. Though in years gone by, I was known to add green food colouring to the oatmeal porridge!!! And would make green rice or tapioca pudding for dessert at supper!

OK QuiltE have you said your Hail Mary's (no offense to the Catholic population) or you just wanted to give us all a good laugh at your distraction can't wait to see what you made..

Anael and I will never tell what we were discussing just keep you all guessing.

This is the progesss I have made so far on this D*&^ oh I mean lovely butterfly quilt. I seem to be only able to get 2 blocks done a day and it is slow going. And yes I am quilting across the quilt not from the centre out. There is no stitch in the ditch on this until I get to the green border so I didn't want there to be too much pushing and pulling as I quilted. This way I can quilt in a vertical manner, stop and re press to make sure the layers are staying together and stitch some more, hence the go slow.
I just have to decide what I am going to quilt in the pieced border, it's not speaking to me any suggestions??

MiraB ... What hopes of spring I do see, on this frosty Canadian morning (-10C!). It's getting prettier and prettier by the day!!! So intense all the quilting you are doing, and it's ever so perfect for the butterflies. I'm sure the border will speak loud and clear to you, as you progress! What kind/weight of thread are you using? And any sign of your Canadian thread packages yet?

Yes, I figured confession was good for my soul ... and that fessing up would do me good! Doing it and earlier the In The Pink, are so refreshing after all the detail PC/FWS work. Now I really do have to get serious on getting that PC trotting to the finish!!!

I can't get over how much I miss in such a short time. We are a chatty bunch.

Mirabelle I love your butterfly quilt. Lovely quilting. Don't you just love your Pfaff?

I didn't get on my FART as most of Alberta is having heavy snowfall for the last few days with no signs of letting up. My son was still game to go, but I was not having him drive in this mess just for fabric. I think he was more disappointed than I. I thought I might get home on Monday, but the weather is bad at home, too. I have no desire to be on the Queen Elizabeth II highway when visibility is poor so they are stuck with me.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend .

I am having a giggle narrowing down where my block may becoming from as I know mine had to be mailed on Friday and some of you are still talking about getting yours done. This is so much fun. Curiosity was always my undoing.

Mirabelle, your quilting is stunning! No suggestions for the border, I'm sorry!

Janie, sorry you didn't go on your FART. When the weather is that bad I wouldn't go either.

I spent most of the day with my DS, DDIL, Bram and Isa Isa took a bath again today, she loved it! She was so relaxed and looked to happy! Bram was sleeping most of the time. Son #2 came this afternoon too, he hadn't seen Bram and Isa yet so this was the first time. He'd never seen such tiny ones before and we told him when they were born they were only half the ones they're now.
All the nurses in the NICU didn't expect they would both survive and get this far!

When I arrived at my DS's this morning Mick was still there too. He looked at me and said: Oma Tinke play ball? Sit on floor and play! He knows how to keep you busy No time to have a cup of coffee!

Oh, my DS told me a few nurses asked him if I was willing to make snuggles for the NICU because they love the ones I made. He told them where the fabric came from and how! So maybe in future I will have to make more snuggles. If so they will pay the fabrics and stuffing.

Well thank goodness I peek in once in a while just to catch up--never long enough to comment. Kind of like an eavesdropper!!
Anael and mirabelle so fun to see your WIP's--makes me feel a part of your process. The white setting in your blocks is beautiful.
Beef and noodles I hear. That's a family favorite around here. I use my canned beef for that and I am now out, but have canning beef to process waiting in my freezer. QNS -- spring flowers--oh I'm so jealous. The round of snow we got earlier in the week has made a mess of things. Seems road maintainers can't properly clear off all of the snow so it sits on the road and melts. Since the frost is still in the ground it makes the roads mud. My car is an absolute mess (We have 3 miles of gravel roads before we get to a hard surface road.) Doesn't do any good to wash it in town because you have mud to drive through when you get home. DIL has to take the kids to meet the bus on the highway starting tomorrow. Never in the almost 25 years of having kids in school did we have to do that. I swear the roads are of the 1930's and 40's conditions.
Hope to get my camera back from DIL so I can take pics of my MB as well as the quilts I have finished for the preemie unit when GS was born. Then I can send a photo to Anael and think about the block for my next victim. (Thanks for the email, Honchey.) I haven't even taken time to see what she wants for colors or design yet!
Jeanie-so glad therapy is working. DH is finding out the same for his back.
Sat DH and I went to a family farm transfer meeting. Interesting--now to turn our dreams into goals/reality. Takes me back to 4-H experiences of making goals etc.
QE--mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa-- Translation-my fault, my fault, my own grievous fault. Sister Mary G says we are only human. I'm exploring little and bigger hexies for our QBuddy day on Wednesday--not my fault; oh no it's all my sister's fault as she's looking for fabric from my stash for hexies when she come to visit in April. Oh and then there's that friendly fabric from Cannuck Country that I want to make a purse out of........ not my fault, again.
Have a busy week ahead. Hoof trimmer here tomorrow--have a roast thawing for dinner--he usually finishes up around noon. Sometimes takes lunch with him, other times sits down for dinner. Wed QBuddies are here. Friday is annual bank meeting so have papers to get ready for that. Trying to clean for Easter in between as well. Want to have downstairs bedrooms ready with clean sheets etc this week.
See why some days I only eavesdrop. Back to getting binding done for another Baby quilt.
    Don't worry spider.
    I keep house
    casually.

JanieW ... oh we are all a-sittin' and a-wonderin' as to whom is our MB Pardner! Too bad about your non-FART How long will you be home this time before heading back to take care of all?

Anael ... oh what FUN with Isa's bath time! Looks like a new career is about to be launched for you!

Honchey ... you know ... we're all going to gang up on you at some point! You could get some of your own medicine back!!! How was your Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner?

    **putting on thinking cap**

OKSGlad ... you make me tired of all you have to do this week! So reminiscent of my past life, although I did not have the kids/grands to factor in! As for all the not my faults .. you know how it goes ... the more we have to do, the more we get done!!! Our hoof trimmer always joined in for meals, and meant for a great social time!!! ... now I'm sure you've thrown the others on this one.

Ladies ... think Bovine Pedicures! Very important for their overall health ... if their feet are not in tip-top shape, they are not Happy Cows!

Speaking of Fabric Friends ... did everyone get it? and is everyone up for the challenge? Sure hope so!!!!!!
(I've heard from only a few!)
Time will soon fly, for the thread to begin ... and there's no saying you can't talk about it here or anywhere you wish!!

We now know what OKSGlad is planning ... I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing more as to what's in the works! It'll be amazing what all your creative minds produce!!

I got the 'ducks in a row' for dh who loves to paper piece, but he wants me to 'help' him tomorrow, so there goes my plans out the door...he will do the sewing, but wants me to decide on the 'colors' of light & dark for each small block... ooooh my aching head...it may take a bottle of Hy Vee's special pain relief tablets to get me through tomorrow; its just scrappy pieced block. dh was supposed to do it independently...not drive me crazy.

I got the second kit for me; I may work on mine while he works on his. Sunshine is warming up tomorrow, and I hope it does. Snow is all gone here; tulips are about four to five inches high now...ground is solid. No mud. Will enjoy our corned beef and cabbage tomorrow, since we are always a day late and a dollar short. LOL!!

    Bwhahahaha !!

As my little grandson says, " you can't fool me!"

My curiosity will truly do me in one of these days.

    QuiltE,

I should be home for a long while once I get there.

We had Irish Stew but not really authentic as it was made with beef, but it was good. My son tried to get me to have a Guinness, but that is quite icky . My Irish ancestors would not be impressed!
