JanRN of course I don't mind, caring is sharing Yes I am doing all the machine embroidery, have all the blocks finished now, just getting up the courage to do the embroidered panels. I haven't done much embroidery where perfect placement is required so I was studying it today but it is so hot here I spent the afternoon sleeping, something I very very rarely do.

It is 9.30pm and I have only just turned the airconditioner off, it has been on since about 11am. the one is the bedroom is on though. Having never seen snow it is hard to imagine being snowed in although it can't be much different than being flooded just the temperature difference. Our wet season has started but as yet we haven't had any rain.

I'm getting fatter just reading all the cookie recipes...I can't wait to try them when I get to NC...My sister is the baker in my family and I'm the cook...She will call me and ask..."what goes in" and I'm always asking "I need a cookie recipe"..my mother never used a recipe for anything...she just knew how to do it...
The wind here has been howing for 2 days..2 more big oak trees down in the back..not close to the house...I hope it stops soon..
Carriem, I'm trying to remember everyone signed up for the BB blocks and I can only come up with 12...who is the 13th?
My grandsons will be visiting Christmas Eve...What to make for dinner??? neither one of them like the same thing!
Mirabelle, Your "Roses" quilt will be beautiful when finished...but then again all your quilts are beautiful!
I changed my mind about the block I was going to do and created a block last night that is so unlike me....I just need some input from all of you..I need to know what your favorite color is. so please let me know...soon...

It was a MERRY Christmas Day today as the postman delivered a big box of fruit from a Texas email friend, Carolyn from Ft. Worth area. Apples, Oranges, and Pears. Made tears come to my eyes, she is so nice. All I did was to send her an 8x8 box of cookies and fruit jam. Wish I could ship her fresh brown eggs ; we have so many with our pullets laying at least a dozen and half daily...and every once in while, all 21 will lay an egg for the day.

Honchey, GrannyQ joined our exchange of blocks, late, so if you are counting yourself, perhaps you are not counting her. She loves blue...DD loves purple....Mirabelle loves roses...pink and red....GardenGal loves the dark red, as OksewGlad does and Carrie...the last three use a lot of Kansas Trouble fabric in their quilts. Dublb loves the red, white and blue. I use off white or light light beige, not white..too. If I have said the wrong color for anyone, please let me know, for that's what I remember seeing in your wonderful blocks.

Honchy, I figure this will be a scrappy quilt, as everyone is doing their own thing! Send me anything and I'll love it!!!

This cookie recipe from allrecipe.com is called Pebble Nodder, the Danish Christmas Cookie...I subscribe to their free service and found this an unusual but want-to-try-this. 1 c.butter; 1.c.sugar; 2 eggs; 2 1/2 c. all purpose flour; 1 teaspoon of ground cardamom; 1 teaspoon of cinnamon or nutmeg or cloves. The Billy Goat cookie I sent to everyone had cardamom in it...no cinnamon or nutmeg or cloves or ginger. Notice no salt or oil.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Blend together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time until light and fluffy. Combine with the other ingredients until blended. Separate the dough in 8 balls. and roll each ball into a rope about as big around as your finger on a lightly floured surface. Cut into 1/2 pieces and place them on parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes in the reheated oven, or until lightly browned. Transfer to cooling racks to cool completely. These are 'white' cookies that might stand out among the chocolate and peanut butter cookies...gingerbread...butterscotch..etc. Picture makes me think of marshmallows!
