As promised here is my favourite recipe

Chocolate Coconut Bars

4oz butter
1/2 cup brown sugar firmly packed
1 cup coconut
1/2 cup plain flour
1/3 cup self raising flour
1 tablespoon cocoa
1 egg

Melt butter, stir in sugar, coconut, sifted flours and cocoa, then lightly beaten egg. Press mixture evenly into an 11 x 7 inch baking tray. Bake in a moderate oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until firm to the touch.

Icing

1 cup icing sugar
1 tablespoon cocoa
1 teasp butter
1 tablespoon milk

Mix all ingredients to make a nice thick paste

Spread icing mix over as soon as it is out of the oven and allow to stand for 10 minutes. You can sprinkle a little coconut on top if you wish
Slice into bars when cool

2 days ago I said it was hot and hunid well yesterday the heavens opened and it started to rain, About an hour ago we had a severe weather front come through and it is absolutely bucketing down. We have had inches of rain.

Thanks for the recipe Mirabelle, sounds delicious!

It has been raining here for a week now, not pouring though otherwise our country would have been washed away! We will have a wet Christmas too

It is 5.30 Christmas Eve here and just in case I don't get a chance later this evening I want to wish all my friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year

Stay safe if you have to travel, try not to eat too much but most of all tell your loved ones how much they mean to you.

Thank you Karen.
Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to all my friends

My DS, DDIL and DGS were planning on being here tomorrow but I just learned my DGS is running a fever so I might pack everything up and go there tomorrow. We'll see how he's doing tomorrow.

My DD and DGS arrived safely Friday evening, had a fun time catching up, making candy, and watching British shows on Netflix...they've lived in England in the past...and saw her off yesterday around 1 pm just in time to clean up a little and go to DH's family Christmas. That was a good time too. This morning the house is quiet with no place to go but to the sewing room.
Carrie...hope you enjoy the header and ended project. I'm amazed at how it has changed my quilting process. I love it.
DD...your quilt is really striking. I haven't done two color quilts yet but I might have to try. I like how yours is turning out.
Mirabelle...keep your lifeboat handy! Sounds like you have days comparable to being snowed in where the weather is so bad you don't go anyplace.
All...I don't bake anything now but biscuits for breakfast but I did find a recipe for date candy that reminded me of what my Mom made for Christmas when I was young.

3 cups sugar
1 cup dates
1 cup milk
1 nuts

mix together and cook to softball stage. Pour into parchment lined jelly roll own. I sprayed the paper with cooking oil. Allow to cool. Spread powdered sugar on top and turn onto powdered sugar covered surface and cut into squares or cut only what you want at a time and roll in powdered sugar. I wanted to give some as a gift so I wrapped pieces in wax paper. Not exactly like Mom's but enough to evoke memories if going to the back porch and helping myself.

Anael...I hope you DGS gets well fast.

I echo Mirabelle's wishes. Be safe and let the people you love know how much you care for them!

GG, that date bar sounds delicious; will have to try that with the incoming date fruit for dh.

Biscuits quick and easy with self rising flour and buttermilk; mix to biscuit consistence and spoon into greased muffin pan spaces until each is 2/3 full. Do a search on QB site for biscuits and you find several ideas. One guess where I found this easy one. GG, I love love to know how you do yours.

I can see some are saying, "Rain, rain, go away; come again some other day!" We could sure use a big slow rain for a week or two. No snow either. Bummer. It takes about 10 inches of snow to equal an inch of rain, according to dh. Our water tables are very low here after this summer's drought.

Yes, everyone have a happy and safe Holiday...stop to enjoy the laughter and joyous sounds of the season...and smile so everyone will wonder what you are up too!! It works!
