JeanieG ... Yes, you're stuck with me ... just like glue! Looks like our Moms cooked much the same and with the same strategies!!

MiraB ... I really haven't got hooked with online ordering. However, you're getting my attention re the price differential. Better for you than me, but still an incentive for me too. If you like MM, check out their Krystal line, with lots of colours. That's what my FWS green borders/sashing was and I can see me using more of it in other projects. And oh, all those Fusion blenders that are in oodles of colour choices too!

Anael ... thanks for the Bernina and Janome info. I think J have created a lot of confusion with the old/new 7700 being intro'd so close together and so much alike. Likewise, I understand that B has re-intro'd an old model # in a totally different machine. I still love my oatmeal porridge, and even more so if I add some fruit while cooking, or after. Sometimes I add in some cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice too! And if sweetness is wanted, maple syrup is the best! Good and loyal Canadian, aren't I? Yea for you and your "new" cut up material for those logs!!! Have FUN when you are out and about!!

Have FUN shopping for the machine you want. You do a lot of sewing and I'm sure you will be doing more and more. You should make sure you have one that is going to last you a long time. Will you be keeping the machine you have for your DD to use?

Anael ... The custard is fine without the maple syrup, but of course, is even nicer with that bit added to it. Plus it makes for a nice presentation when you turn it out at serving time. Mom always made mincemeat. I have done so too, but more so what I do is buy a ready-made mixture and add a bunch more apples, cherries, maybe some nuts and let it brew in the frig til I'm ready to use it for something. Though, that takes some planning ahead!!

I know that many of you said no-way to applique .... but Never Say NEVER!
This is so cute and done in little chunks, so maybe some might be interested?

I know I am ... and see it as a feasable way to do some applique without a huge commitment.
And if I didn't finish it all, I could finish up as a smaller project(s).

Baked Maple Custard
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Pour in bottom of each custard dish
1 tbsp. maple syrup
(and/or fruit ... or skip this step totally, if you want plain custard)

Whisk together and pour over maple syrup
2 eggs
1-1/4 cups milk
1/4 sugar (or splenda)
1 tsp vanilla
if desired -- nutmeg, cinnamon

Set cups in baking pan with boiling water to within inch of top of cups.
Bake at 350°F for 35-40 minutes til knife inserted comes clean.
(time will vary depending on size of custard dishes)
Cool and Chill. Eat as is, or with fresh fruit or fruit compote.
At serving time, run knife around edge of each cup and invert on dessert plate.

**I like to eat it still warm from the oven, and then eat the rest chilled later.
**Custard Pie is nice ... in a pie shell with or without a fruit bottom. I have made it with mincemeat in the bottom for a delicious Christmas dessert.



I now have visions of all the PC homes taking a trip down memory lane with some custard int he next few days!!!

This sounds wonderful!! I have some suger free maple syrup & some sugar free Smucker's Jam that I could use for different tastes. I have found that I have ta double my splenda measurements in comparison ta sugar in most recipes. Thiis gonna be good. MMmmmmmm

I'm not afraid o' applique a'tall. I do have a problem w the idea o' raw edge applique. I can't git passed the idea o' the edges not bein' folded down. LOL This might be just the project ta git me passed that.
Hmmm I can't git it ta enlarge for viewin'. It is so cute.

QuiltE that BOM is adorable, would look great in my sewing room, mmmmm thinking about it.

Anael I wish I had known you were doing Sylvias Bridal Sampler, I have the first 3 or 4 blocks and then it stalled big time. Maybe I need to make it my priority for this year, after:

Pam Bono's Out of the Darkness,
Bargello kit I purchased from Keepsake Quilting,
maybe the Compass Blocks
the machine embroider butterflies I started
Marjen for Error machine embroidered quilt that is almost finished
and I am sure there is another UFO lurking in the cupboard

Why why why are there so many quilts to be made and only so many hours in a day

Lots of good chatter today while we tagged along with best friends to Des Monies today. Under impressed by Hobby Lobby, so saved $$$ there.

QuiltE, I have found when everything I have typed goes "poof", I hit the button to relieve the 'saved' version and it 'pops' back on the screen. Your custard recipe reminds me of Rice Pudding, memories of it with cinnamon and raisins, egg, milk & rice.

How many UFOs do I have??? Let me count the many projects that need done.....no, that might discourage me completely. Last time I started counting it was up to, well, like 17, and more have been added since. One day at a time. One stitch at a time. First, get the BBs all done, all the slashes sewn for PC quilt, hope the Cripple Creek calls me about the FWQ being machine quilted and its progress.

QuiltE, your egg recipe is a real home runner hit!! Dh loves it.
