DublB ... I think it's needleturn applique, not raw edge ... but I'm sure, it could be done so too.

Me and Applique? ... Other than the two FWS blocks, I don't think I've done ANY applique. So my modus operandi in this would be to "learn" a wee bit about it and who better to stumble along with, than my PC+FWS Buddies!

JanRN ... I know I know you said NO applique ... but you also said NO PP and LOOK at what you turned into. So I think you'd better eat those words, yet again!!!

Andddddddddd ... just as I was saying that you were stuck with me .... I may go poof, as this blasted computer has been giving me the gears again today. Fingers crossed!

Tomorrow, not likely any sewing for me as I plan to de-Christmas my home. It's always easier than dressing it up, being that more than 1/2 stay up, as I leave all the "winter" decorations up. And dependent on the computer, I may be able to have MORE time to do that job ......... Have FUN ladies! See you soon!

All the recipes sound good. I've had custard once...not sure about the texture. I had some bread pudding at a bakery a few months back (during the Chocolate Walk we went to in Oct) and that was very good.

I do plan to keep my Janome Gem760, but want to trade in the Janome Magnolia (*very* basic machine of DD) when I get the 6600. My dealer said even if I get a used 6600 she will give me a good price for the other machine. I talked with her the other day and said I am ready to buy as soon as she has a used one in.

The reason I even seriously started thinking about another nice machine is that my DD wanted a new one, so I had to ask myself, should I get another machine similar to mine or go bigger and share my "small" one with her?? I thought this was the smarter way to go!

We were gone for about 13hrs today at the archery tournament!! LONG DAY!! All three kids shot well...DS 280 (placed 1st for middle school boys), oldest DD 253 and youngest DD 226...personal bests for the girls, average for DS. 300 is the max they can get....

Maybe I will be able to work on my BBs tomorrow. Not sewing for this long is no good!

QuiltE the last time I worked on a needleturn project was a Baltimore style quilt, gee only 9 blocks and 10 years to finish it, of course I piked out on the appliqued border, didn't want to add another 5 years to the project sure I can find a few minutes every month why can't it be blanket stitched on the machine?? just asking

I don't like needleturn! I really don't, even if it's a few minutes every month!!!!! So if I'm playing it will be blanket stitched on the machine

Applique ranks right up there with y-seams and colonoscopies in my book. Been there, done it and WILL NOT do any of them again!!! LOL. I've got some projects that need completed. I still haven't done a quilt on my Sweet16; have 2 ready to go but don't feel I've practiced enough. So until I "master" that machine, I'll stick to whatever project we do next and concentrate on some UFOs. And QE, you are so right about paperpiecing. It's all I do right now--even pp a 4 patch (well, they were only 1" unfinished) but I like my finished blocks so much better. But applique---NO!!

Thanks for all the great recipes. I love bread pudding. Have you ever made rice pudding? Same thing but use cooked rice instead of bread. Yum.

Carrie, will mail BB out tomorrow. Hope everyone likes them and "gets" them. No hints, just wait LOL.

I'm so with you Jan! The only way I'm doing applique is fusing and blanket stitching on the machine.

You have a Sweet 16!!!!!!! I want one too!!! Can you send yours over to me please? I can't get one here The only countries in Europe selling those machines are the UK and Spain. Great for holidays but not for buying a machine.

I am a "no" on the applique too...at least for this time around. I haven't tried, so can't say I won't like it...I am just not ready to learn something new right now. I am thinking about doing the compass blocks after I get a few UFOs finished.

Have we decided if we are doing another project as a group or just going to keep sharing our current projects/project ideas? Maybe wait until March to decide...that gives us time to finish BBs and maybe PC blocks/quilts too? It doesn't make any difference to me. I like checking in to see what everyone is up to.

I'm not saying I love needle turn ...
... I just want to learn a bit about it, so I know why I should avoid it in the future!

At least it's a cute pattern ... to torment myself with.
Besides ... I do not know how to do the machine applique method either.
So for me ... it's any applique!
Therefore, you can all teach mne how to do it all different ways!!!

CarrieM ... Congratulations to your Kids! I'm sure you are a proud MommaBear! ITA with your rationale for the machine purchase! You are a serious sewer, and you'll find your stitching is going to be even better now with the 6600. The extra space of the 6600 is impressive (ask me, I know it seemed huge when I got mine) but please re-consider the 7700 too, as you will soon discover you want the extra space it offers. And being that you are purchasing a used, the prices will be lower for both. It's more than worthwhile. Another thing ... the table seemed non impressive being that it only has one small drawer. So much so that I almost did not get it. And now, I can't think of not sewing with it. It's stable and sturdy and the best thing going.

JanRN ... I could easily have done my BBs traditionally, but hey, wanted those perfect points and square corners and matched seams, so went the PP route too! It's so mindless that I feel like I am cheating. I've never had Rice PUdding done the way you mentioned. I've been making mine in the crockpot the last few years!

Anael ... you'll just have to go on a holiday and bring a SWeet 16 back as a souvenir!!!

JanRN ... what about going out and buying a panel or cheater quilt and doing it as your first full quilt on the S16? Then you could do something large, and not being scared to work on something you have done all the piecework.

BBs ... anyone else getting excited, with all the sets being worked on, getting finished ........ and the hints being dropped? Well, if you're not ...... I AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was working on my BB blocks today and was wondering if they will match what you all made. Fabric choices are hard to make when you have no idea so I hope I made the right ones!

Holiday to S16 land will have to wait as I have to save some money both for the holiday and the S16 Spain would be nice, I could drive down there, will take a few days but hey, it's a holiday
