Still blowing and snowing here. Dh dug out a path from the shed; the ducks came over the drift of snow to go back into the shed. Guineas have not left the shed today. Chickens came out briefly and dove back into their house, singing to Dh who gave them fresh water and fed. They laid 18 eggs today; not bad for the weather outside.

Did not feel like sewing today; maybe tomorrow.

QNS - I wondered if the chickens would lay in all that cold! That is surprising, I remember getting fewer eggs from my hens during the winter! They were like pets, would coming running when I came from the house with vegetable scraps for them! We had absolutely no bugs anywhere on our property with those busy chickens scouring the land.

dublb the center of your block exhibits such movement to the triangles. Very nice!
Jeanie your ES has such a unique color combination. How did you decide to come up with those?
Honchey's leader and ender project is truly a scrappy. I tend to want to be a little more controlled.
mirabelle the chain block among the butterflies pulls it all together. Just lovely
In a short time the SewGrands will be waking up; hope their night was restful. I remember our nephew having a picture of his little girl's hand place in his. What a size difference. Amazing isn't it?
QNS I did not realize that chicken's slowed their laying down in winter because of less daylight-not the cold. It's so nice to have longer days. DIL's hens are laying more eggs too.
I've been petting my BB's tonight and realized I didn't sign mine. Guess you'll know which one mine is Anonymous.
Tidying up the sewing room tonight. I have some UFO's I want to finish.

Oksewglad, believe me I had a very hard time being so scrappy! I started to choose them and had to stop myself after a bit.

Dh felt like we had about 8 inches when he was out at four o'clock; it was blowing so hard at six fifteen, he could not tell if it was blowing snow or still snowing. Chickens will usually slow down their egg laying in the winter, but with the light inside for extended light hours, our 21 hens have given us about 18 eggs almost everyday. We sell some at $1.00 a dozen, give some away, and use all we want too. Ducks have quit laying eggs, and the guineas being of South American decent, hate the cold. Ducks do not seem to mind the cold at all...they waddle out, sit down, and put their feet up to warm and tuck their heads under their wings.

On the last FART trip, I got proper yardage for dh to line up his ducks on a pp pattern. He is much better than I at pp. And he makes his own kilts now, something I will not touch. With his computer down yet, he is not a happy camper. Pass the chocolate, please.

DDamsel ... Oh for the adventures of country life, and muddy times!! looks like your population is increasing ... DS/DDIL, DSis/Niece ... I know you love everyone around you! My Tristan orders have come via post. Best to check with GGal, as to whether it's the same when they ship to USA. Have you been ordering from them? or thinking?

QNSue ... all this snow will give you moisture! Can just imagine your fabric store aka stash!! For sure, you can sew your way thru the snEw storm ... and a few more! You'll have to show us pics of your husband's work one of these times. I just read in your later post that your DH makes his own kilts .... for sure we need pics! I have this visualization of all your birds marching thru the snow!

Anael ... oh so sweet that our SewGrands have been out of their incubators and with Mommy and Daddy today!! You mentioned sugar ... when my neighbour's DGS was born, about the same size as your little ones, I remember her standing there and holding her hands out and referencing pounds of butter. So many times I have "heard" her in my mind .... after a precarious start, Michael is now a handsome young man!

JeanieG ... busy yes, but it seems to have a subtlety to it, despite that! And looks so fresh and spring like. Perhaps once it's quilted, you'll change your mind and like it more.

CarrieM ... your PC looks fantastic. Great setting for your blocks along with our background colour. Looking forward to seeing the finished project!

MiraB ... Yea for the Tristan people. Great customer service that they helped you figure out how to beat our postage rates! To think that two parcels are costing you less total, than if they were shipped as one! Now another long wait for MrPostman!! Your BBs came so fast to CarrieM ... and now they are taking the slow boat back!

OKSGlad ... you keep on petting those blocks. I know I did, everytime I was near them today ... and will be for a long time ahead. If you don;t mind, I will be adding your name to your BB! ....might need that when I am old and dottery to help remind me!

Snow Ladies ... hope you are all home, safe and sound! Be careful if you are out and about.

DDamsel ... no more muddy stories, please!

Time to call it a day? .. or should I say night?
Good Night Ladies!

I hope all of you in the snow are safe!

Didn't give you an update last night. I was exhausted and went to bed early. My DS texted me late last night, telling the twins are ok. Bram had a bad moment and needed 75% oxigen, but had been lowered to 55% before we all went to sleep. No phonecalls last night so they will be ok. I'm waiting for the next update.

Mirabelle, good to know about the shipping costs. Do they give the weight of the spools? I never ordered thread abroad, I only buy embroidery thread online but I can buy it here in the Netherlands.

QNS, I love your stories about all your animals! 18 eggs a day, wow. I wouldn't know what to do with them. In case you didn't get any, here is some chocolate for you

QuiltE, how are you getting along with your PP farm animals?

Latest update: Maybe Isa is taken off the ventilator today! The next testresults of Bram's mucus will be in today, so let's hope they are negative as well.
Last night one of the NICU babies died........makes me feel so sad! It could easily have been Bram or Isa like my DDIL said to me this morning. So we're very happy Bram and Isa are ok but sad at the same time.
