GrannyQ--also be sure your return address is on the envelope...at least then you should get it back if they can't find Bev's house.

I found it!!!! I host a B-day FQ swap, on the other forum that I'm a member of. As those FQ packages came in DH put 'em in a box (one that I told him ta). They were all standin' up. Well your MB was layin' down under all o' the rest, so that as I flipped through 'em I couldn't see it. What a relief! I was gittin' so very upset. Now I only have ta wait on one more FQ for the swap. I'm glad that I triple checked taday.

That didn't help with my first block, Carrie. And I tape my return address labels down on bigger envelopes as I don't totally trust the self stick labels.
Yeah for mail and rain, Bev! Like Jan I'm a weather junkie and have watched the area around Midland for rain--was tickled when I saw a possibility of rain in yesterday's forecast.

GardenGal, you ask me how long we have been doing our landscaping, and I forgot to answer your question. Sorry. We built and moved in August 2005 after retiring in May 2005. Started the build in March of that year, wanting it be ready for us in the first of June, but the builder did not start when we thought he would...so it drug on for nine weeks before we could move in. First thing I did was to plant an orchard and start my flower beds. The perennial bed was started about three or four years ago; the clematis on the East side about six/seven years ago held up by landscape timber and wire panel. DH built the support for the Wisteria about that time, too, bull strong, to hold up the weight of the plants. The jelly I make every year comes from our orchard. Dh got the tires free and began building up the garden every since then, with some changes every year. I have been planting along the YY state highway since we moved in, and the lilacs are now well established and roses too..as well as along the house. Most of our roses came from www.heirloomroses.com 'cause the University of Iowa professor developed a hardy rose and they marketed them. He would throw them into Iowa corn fields to winter, and what survived, he would develop them future. Dh has from our front door to the East end of the house, and I have from the door to the West end where the garage is attached to the house.

Today, the rest of the old house, brick piers, are getting buried...it has bugged my dh all this time. They did bury most of the old house that was here, and cleared the land of twenty five years of growth. We did want to save some of it, but too much poison oak, so we just started fresh with about eight to ten trees on the lot..2.9 acre lot.

Good news, the 'chicken' left in the tree flew down with the flock this morning! Thank God!! As we catch the seven tonight, we will trim feathers on one wing, so they cannot fly up on the fence and into the orchard trees. All the others 'shook' down, but the one was higher or held on tighter....will add them back into the hen house tonight.

Hope everyone has a good day. GardenGal, I hope your quilt sells well...above what you expect...some people actually have learned to value quilts!!

Mercysland is a hand quilter; sorry I really don't hand quilt 'cause of my hands not working as they should in my 'senior years'...although I do have some good days...it might be fun.
I'm with you on the hand quilting QNS! The arthritis really flares when I do any hand sewing. It's the pits getting older!

I bet Merciland wouldn't turn down blocks for a special thanks from this group even if we did them by machine!
Thanks for the history, QNS.....I love how plants make a place look loved and you certainly have done that!
Easy Street is FINISHED!!!! Lighting is poor today so no picture. Utopia is FINISHED!!! I erased them from my white board but added the WW and baby quilt so the list isn't any shorter. I just signed up for the mystery quilt from Fabric Essentials. It looked just too interesting to turn down. They send fabric and clues every month for four months and it makes a lap quilt. I've decided not to do the next MM BOM at the LQS and try my wings at some new things.

Good for you GG, go for new things!! That keeps you young at heart!!

Bf's daughter had her baby girl at 1:30 pm and all is doing fine. She may be dismissed tomorrow or next day, so bf will remain up there until Wednesday, I think. Then, we can plan the rest of the Iowa Shop Hop.

DH is very happy to get rid of the dump, and have it buried. We gathered eggs; having put eggs from the guineas nest over into the nests in the hen house, dh thought he was encouraging the hens to lay...but with five or six hens trying to 'sit' (no rooster), a small newly hatched guinea baby greeted me after throwing each hen out the door...so what to do....I slipped the little one under a black hen that was clucking on her nest. Whatever happens, happens. If the hen takes the young guineas out into the dew it kills them, so will try to watch that. Have to catch the juveniles and trim their wings tonight before dark, and put them into the hen house again. More may hatch out tonight.

So tomorrow, we set up the nursery for baby guineas and hen Mothers.
