We are making progress on our kitchen. The granite is going in as I am writing this, the appliances and sink will be installed tomorrow. I've ordered the carpet for the living room, and it should be here in a few days. I hope to have it installed next week. As soon as these guys finish today, I'm going to start unpacking the umpteen boxes and putting things in my cupboards. What a chore, and of course the temperatures are in the high 80's, low 90's.

It's fall time, that pumpkin time of year:

Pumpkin Better Than Sex Cake

•1 box yellow cake mix
•1 – 15 oz. can pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie mix)
•1 – 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk (fat free is ok)
•1 – 8 oz. tub cool whip (lite is ok)
•½ bag Heath Bits
•Caramel Sundae Sauce

Instructions
1.In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix and pumpkin puree until a smooth batter forms.
2.Pour batter into a greased 9×13 baking dish, and bake at 350º, according to the directions on the cake mix box (approx 23-28 mins).
3.Remove cake from oven and let cool for about 10 minutes after baking.
4.Using the end of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the top of the cake.
5.Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the cake. This should fill in the holes and soak into the cake.
6.Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
7.Remove cake from refrigerator and spread cool whip over top of cake. Sprinkle on the heath bits, and drizzle caramel over top. (I didn’t think the cake needed a lot of caramel at this point so I only used about ¼ of the jar. I thinned it out first by heating it in the microwave.)
8.Refrigerate for 3-4 hours, or overnight

Question: do you ever feel overwhelmed by all the projects started and waiting to be finished? I do There are so many lovely quilts I would love to make and when I think of all the UFO's ...............
So I made a decision this morning. I do have to finish at least some UFO's before starting a new project. I'm working on a quilt right now I thought I only have to do a few more blocks but it turns out I have to do a lot more!! So I will plow on

Oh Anael all the time, that is why I am not taking a new project to retreat this year but working on ufo's. It is not only the projects waiting to be finished but also the ones running around in my tiny little brain waiting to be started I think we need a magic wand.

The car is packed, 2 tutto machine bags, 2 sew-ezi tables, 4 baskets of projects, 5 quilts and 6 blankets of love, 2 sets of bedding, sheets, quilts (gets cold where we are going), 2 overnight bags, 2 pillows, bag of snacks and drinks for happy hour (Coke Zero for me and Soda water for DD) cooler bag with lunch for Friday and Date and Coconut slice to share, 2 irons and an ironing board and 2 chair cushions (a girl has to be comfortable).. AND I loathe having things loose in the car so will be driving very carefully. Will try to remember to take a pic before we start unloading, if I can find the camera

Will chat to you all when I get home, note to self take lots of pics to share

Mirabelle, same here. I can't get cool whip or pumpkin puree here either and I have no idea what Health Bits are So I guess we're good

Have lots of fun at the retreat, find that camera and take lots of pictures! We want to share the fun

I'm working on the 10th installment of the BOM I started 21/2 years ago! Still # 11 and # 12 to go.

For the internationals...do you have sweet potatoes? I think mashed sweet potatoes would be a good substitute. Cool whip is artificial whip cream so use the real thing, and Heath Bits are crushed chocolate covered toffee. I'm certain these substitutions would work fine.
Anael...I'm with you on the UFOs so yesterday before continuing on with redoing the first SYE block, I put binding on a quilt. A FINISH!!!! I quilted more on the baby quilt and the end is in sight...another good day should do it. Won't really make a dent in what I could finish but I'm not starting anything new until the next Bonnie Hunter Mystery starts this winter. Gives me a couple of months to shorten my UFO list! I need some empty project boxes.
Mirabelle....it sounds like you're loaded for bear as we would say here. What fun and good memories! Your DD is allowed to cause the entire group to celebrate your birthday. I can see balloons hanging from the light fixtures!!!
Jeanie...great news. I'm sure you will enjoy the results and like we've told Bev...it doesn't have to get done in a day! Pictures please.
