Ggal--always nice to see a review of things...I usually choose a pattern because I like it and buy the fabric for all the blocks right away. Sometimes I buy the sashing/border/binding fabric, but usually wait until I am ready to put together to decide on that. There have been quilts I've made specifically for people and others I would get finished and say "she would really like this" and then gift it. I rarely buy fabric "just because" with no pattern in mind...except the occasional FQ.

Love to get back in the quilting room but need to give eye a chance to heal. Soon. I hope. So many are missing from our chatter, its 'resting' in place. Dh has to have more teeth pulled this morning; one more session and he will be toothless...and will heal his gums for false teeth.

Its cool here this morning. Have a good day; hope you feel better, Dublb. And Ansel, too.

GGal a perfect summary! I couldn't have said it better so I won't.
Blue Bell I was over almost to your neck of the woods--eastern foothills of Blue Ridge in WVa to see my sister. Beautiful country.
Found the camera and got QNS great blocks photographed! Thanks so much. All the blue stars are just lovely together!

Sorry no group picture because design wall has this on it. Does it look familiar? All the pretty horses, right. Actual quilt center is 5 crazy blocks by 5 crazy blocks. Hit the wall so I couldn't get anymore of the quilt center in. It will have 2 borders on it as well. Will keep you posted on this.

Yep, those pony club scraps look familiar and I think you found a good use for them. Still awaitin' the doctor's word that I can quilt and sew again...sigh...how I want too go into the quilting room. I was in the LQS and it felt a bit like coming home....no, I did not buy anything but had a nice conversation with them. Debbie, her grown daughter Ashley and the darling little girl baby of Ashley's that smiled and giggled, about five months, I think. Cute. Sweet baby.

Ggal what a great review, kudos to you for keeping up with us

Oksewglad beautiful MB's and I love your Crazy Horse blocks

I spent Thursday night with DD and we spent the evening baking cakes. It is Charli's birthday on Sunday (tomorrow) and she will be 5. She spent a few hours with DD this afternoon helping make the chocolate butterflies and flowers, although I think she ate more chocolate that she should have This cake is 3 tiers high, my DD loves cake decorating, and it took her all day. The top of the cake is little balls of cake on sticks covered in chocolate and decorated with flowers and butterflies. She is having a party with all her friends, wish I could be there but they have promised me lots of pics.
The outdoor fairy table and chairs is her birthday present.

QNS, those are lovely blocks that you made for OK. Love the shades of blue. Be patient!!! You'll be back in the sewing room very soon.

Mrab, awesome cake but I'm with Charli--I'd rather eat the chocolate than bake with it LOL. She's adorable and will love her outdoor table set. What fun they are at that age.

I know you ladies are tired of me whining about my work situation but I think it may finally be resolved. The new girl we hired hasn't been arrested and seems to be doing fine with the job. Starting next week I'll be back to my one day per week (Please, God!!!) Found some more missing items from the med supply we keep in the office and can guess who took them. We don't keep any meds except the solutions he uses to inject painful joints, some Novacaine for numbing/sutures, and vitamin B 12 for injection. What she plans to do with these is anyone's guess--they certainly aren't meds that give you a high. Still, they cost over $500 to replace. Hopefully, this is all behind us.

Hope everyone has a great week-end. Stay warm!

Well we will all hold our collective breath and hope you can have your "FARTirement" again, Jan! Your former co worker is also one of the reasons health care costs are higher.

Yup QNS once you are through your "probation" you will be sewing away almost as fast as mirabelle.

Oh my that cake is something else. I so admire people who can attempt such a fancy cake, let alone do it so well. Around here someone will see a plain frosted cake and ask "What are you saving this for?" Most times a cake doesn't even see frosting and soon an empty pan with a few crumbs is the only evidence I even baked!

I got the block for Quilt guild's mystery block done last night. A yard and half of fabric in a bag has been circulated and each bag holder uses this focus fabric to create a block. I've been using the Oregon trail block for all of my blocks. It's the same block I used for Jan's MB. It's been a very versatile design for all types of fabrics. This last one was made of batiks. I haven't been taking pictures so don't have one for you.

Need to run to town so had better get going before the day's gone. Sun is shining and not too breezy today. Oh and if I come up missing I've been called for jury duty next week--soooo later some time.

Bingo!! ... JanieW is right!!
The Royal = The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair!

World Class livestock of all breeds and species are shown during the ten days that the Farm comes to the City. The exhibitors come from all over the USA and Canada, with many travelling from all parts of the world to view the show. It is all indoors, and at the same location as the CNE where I was in the summer. Only blocks to downtown Toronto.

A good overview video here ...
http://www.todocast.tv/rmpictures/royalfair2013free/

It was a grand mini-holiday! Met up with a friend for the two days together. Saw so many people that I haven't seen since last year, and some longer. The heavy horses as always were a highlight for me. Five Clydesdale hitches on Thursday night as part of the Horse Show. Then last night we were out in the barns when they were hitching the Percheron-6's. Seven hitches from USA and Canada including one from OKs Iowa!! So incredible to be right there and only a few feet from them as they hitched, and then stamped their way down the chute and into the ring. Also, saw the Green Meadows (stage coach elegance type) getting hitched. And yes, as you can well imagine, this dairy girl watched the Holstein show yesterday .... a long sit! but a trip down memory lane.

JanieW ... Would that be a loaf of bread into sandwiches? Good for you for getting so many done!! Though I would be in agony doing all the floor crawling to accomplish that'! Looks like you might have them all done by January ... and then another binge will have to happen!

OKSGlad ... looks like a great PC user-upper in the making!! For one of the DGDs I'm guessing? I'm a little confused ... does the bag for the Guild MBs go from one to the other? and then at the end the provider of the fabric gets the bag back, filled with blocks? Good Luck on the Jury Duty next week. I served for a stint about 35 yrs ago. Was called a couple of years ago, and was excused for medical reasons, before the selection process began.

OKSGlad and QNSue ... two nice new blues to add to the collection!

MiraB ... oh so sweet DGD, her cake and table and chairs. And what did you give her for her birthday? So wonderful what your DD is doing for her with the special birthday celebrations.

JanRN ... Yipppeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!! Oh happy days and let the FART-irement begin again ... and may it never end!!!!!!!

Honchey ... hope the clubhouse is working out good for you to get online. Just not as convenient when you have to "go" to the internet instead of having it on demand. But oh, think of all the quilting you will get done.

GGal ... forgot to answer about how I plan my quilts. Unfortunately, I don;t do enough. planning and all too often am then wanting more fabric to finish up a project! Although, I often have a plan, just that as I go, then I say, oh how about doing this? or I like it so much and want it to be bigger. And these are what it gets me in trouble!!! I seldom use a pattern as such ... or take a pattern and then start making changes. Maybe the question for me should be, why can't I go with a pattern? Life could be oh so much easier! Oh wait, I did the PC and FWS ... and didn't vary there too much!

Sounds like you enjoyed your trip, QuiltE, and the trip down memory lane.

Mirabelle, that cake is truly a work of art, she will remember all her life. And the little table and chairs are sooo cute!

Happy for you JanRN, that things have worked out so you have your time off and planning FART trips, but if we had pictures of what you have done, it would be perfect!!

Honchey, you may have to plan more luncheon dates in the country club so you can keep up with us on the computer.

OKsewGlad, you have an excellent eye for photographing the perfect picture. Sorry they are so wonky. Hope my eyes will straighten out soon. Doctor said it takes a while for "Mother Nature" to work it out. Hopefully, he will fit me for glasses on the 21st of the month. For now, I am using a cheap pair of reading glasses.

And wishing I had more chatter to read here, eye candy to see, and hear about wonderful FART trips. I fantasize what you all are doing so successfully.
