typing left handed...with a couple fingers so this will be short.....

i am home, things went well, the actual procedure took less than 5 min once dr got me numb

a little achy but should feel better by morning

have to take it easy 2 days, then can start doing a little "non-repetitive" stuff

have ace bandage on, wear for 5 days then can start doing a little more each day

go back to dr in 2 weeks

Anne - I got my block today in the mail. Ohhhh beautiful. I'll take a photo and post a little later!

Anael - KK is looking anything but happy with your applique work. My kitty just likes to lay on all the fabric. I have a devil of a time quilting, all the fabric with batting and backing is like a lure! "Here I come", he seems to say - and plops down right where I need to quilt!

QNS - will you share a recipe for that yummy looking cake? Wow, this looks wonderful, I can smell it already!

My DH put a Home Depot Wardrobe cabinet in the garage for me to store my batting and backings and other stuff in. We put shelves on both sides (suppose to have a rod for hanging clothes), so I'll have plenty of extra storage. I also bought a new dresser to put in my sewing room. The one I have in there (3 drawer) for my scraps and fat quarter size pieces is so full, I can't get any more fabric in there. My neighbor was cleaning out a storage area and gave me a paper size box full of fabric. No room!!! I also have a lady, I have never met, who had fabric to give away on freecycle a couple of years ago. She and several friends make charity quilts. She does not use or save scraps or strips! She gave me three shopping bags full of their fabric scraps. She has done this about two or three times a year. She sends me email, and I go to her house, about a mile away, and she has two or three bags on her porch for me. I iron all the pieces, and put in my 1 1/2", 2", and 3" bins. I use my Sizzix Big Shot to cut the small pieces into 1 1/2",2", 2 1/2" squares and put in the corresponding bins. Many of the pieces are large enough to fold and put in the dresser by color. Right now, I have two shopping bags, that she gave me right after Christmas, to get time to cut up. My new dresser comes on Thursday, so I'll re-organize my whole room.

Carrie, happy for you...may it continue to heal and be less painful.

JeanieG, you sound very busy with your sewing room; good luck in reorganizing the room. The cake is semi-homemade. I started with a Duncan Hines Delectable Carmel Cake, lined the bottom of my pan, and three days later I felt like baking the cake. I opened a large can and a small can of sliced pineapple and drained the juice into measuring cups. Placed the pineapple on top of the pan liner, and put the cherry in the middle. Reserved one whole cup of juice to use in the cake batter instead of water, had two slices of pineapple leftover that I cut up and threw into the cake batter. Mixed up with the leftover pineapple juice cornstarch and brown sugar and coated the pineapple in the bottom of the pan with that. Mixed up the cake batter with the cup of pineapple juice, the two slices cut up of pineapple, vegetable oil, and 3 large eggs and poured it over the pineapple slices in the bottom. Directions said to add the dry caramel over the top of the cake last and swirl it into the batter, which I did in swirls. Baked it according to directions and upset it into another larger pan to cool. Turned out great. Surprised me.

Carriem I hope life gets back to normal for you soon and that you heal fast.

Another great recipe from NinaSue, I will have a piece in the RV thank you..

JeanieG you are going to be busy reorganising your sewing space, and how wonderful for you to receive such a treasure trove of scraps.

I have just finished cutting the centre panel for Darkness, took me 2 days and 318 pieces, may start sewing it today.

Wow what a lovely picture of you and GGD, Jeanie...look at you looking so young and on the floor, too, holding her!! I have not been able to sit on the floor like that for the last twenty years...and you would pass for forty to fifty years young! What a special photo moment to treasure! Looks like she may flavor you in looks, too. Luck child!
