No stones cast or words tossed to hurt; inquiring mind of me, myself and I wanted to know...this group has many talents...and even I can learn from time to time. Mirabelle and Anael post wonderful photo shots, I never tire of seeing them posted. Honchey posts hers as well, and they look nice as well as the rest of the PCers... I still have much to learn, and miles to go. If Anael was next door, I'd be knocking on her door all the time.

Just catching up; computer gremlins were here again last night & this morning. MrJanRn is great at fixing things but he cannot teach! I ask him to show me what he's doing so if it happens again I can fix it myself. He just hits buttons, switches screens, and voila! It's fixed. I guess I have to keep him around a while longer LOL.
Anne, I love that earlier stack & wack--I agree, stripes! Beautiful fabric for your 4PP and it's coming along nicely.
Mirab, Anael & I are so glad you didn't post the calorie count of your delicious recipe (altho that's never stopped me before). Maybe I'll stick to the virtual calories in QNS's RV; no with my metabolism, I'd grow virtual hips!! Hooray that you're going to do DJ--are you done with it yet? (Just kidding--you amaze me with how much you accomplish). I love the 4PP that you did and agree, it looks like beautiful floor tiles).
Anael, sounds like you're experimenting with your crock pot. I had to get used to the settings on mine. I usually start things on "high" but after an hour or so lower it to "medium". My "medium" setting still seems a little high to me but I've learned when to turn it to "low". I make mostly soups in mine so I start them around 10am and they're done by 5pm. If you add rice to your soups, MEASURE!! I didn't and added too much rice. Smelled really good but when I came down from the Bat Cave the rice had expanded so much it pushed the lid off and I had rice & broth all over the counter top and running onto the floor. If you want any good soup recipes let me know.
Bev, have fun in Brady. Carrie, don't over do it. It's hard to take it easy when you're so used to being active. GGal, I always enjoy your posts; you must be super busy, missing you. Janie & DD hope all is well. QNS--listen to your body & rest when it tells you to! (I know--nurses are nags LOL but we care). GrannyQ lots of prayers and positive vibes heading your way. Jeanie, PLEASE send some warm, windy weather here!! We're headed for another week of a polar vortex (don't know what that means other than below zero temps). Yes, Jan, The freezing weather is coming back again...It's sleeting here right now...was planning to go to Joanns..this store is moving to another location and everything is greatly reduced...now I don't think so...your area has been continually hit this winter...it's supposed to be bad this Tuesday and I'm leaving Wednesday at 4 am to get to the airport in AC for a 6:30 a.m. flight...I hope the plan e doesn't have to be de-iced too many times...I would love some of your crock pot soup recipes..the one I have is a 5 qt... with all the recipes posted I'll be busy in the kitchen and not the sewing room...My inlaws (columbus, Ohio) are coming down for a stay after I arrive...I'll be busy that's for sure...
I can't wait to try the Caramel Slice...love coconut...Time to get off the cp & get some work done...H.

Mirabelle, those new blocks are wonderful. Do you have a photo of the fabric before you started cutting it up? I have the Stack n Whack book, but have been afraid to try it. It has been sitting on the book shelf for three or more years! LOL

JeanieG here is a pic of the fabric before cutting, it has a lot of gold in it. I was really disappointed that we didn't get a lot of variation with the blocks but DD loves it.
I have Bethany Reynolds first 2 stack and whack kaleidoscope books but for this one we chose to use a specialty ruler I had.
I made DH a kaleidoscope quilt for his 50th and the main fabric was motorcycles, it turned out great, might try and find a pic of it for you. It went to quilt heaven last month it had literally fallen apart and the last time I washed it there was more wadding left in the washing machine that there was in the quilt.
Westalee is an Australian company making rulers for every conceivable patchwork shape, very expensive though. And really you don't need that many rulers..

Here is a picture of one stack and whack we made:[ATTACH=CONFIG]457262[/ATTACH]Pink flamingos that are different in each of the 37 stars ? don't remember exact number now, but have the book and walk anyone through the steps for king or queen size, exchange email and tutorials....whatever if anyone is interested. A 45 degree angle and a 60degree angle and measuring tools is all that is required with a repeating design. It is important to note the inches between repeats.

NinaSue I love it, isn't it interesting what you can create just by cutting the fabric differently, into 4's into 6's and into 8's, cutting straight and on the diagonal using different angles.

Very pretty ladies, i have never tried a stack & whack pattern.
I received by mystery block in the mail thursday but didn't get a picture until today from JanRN. It is so pretty and will go well with all the rest of the blocks. Here is a picture, it is called spider Web form Quilts from Rosie.

Thank you all so much for your prayers for my family in all this time of crisis for us. DH had another chemo treatment last monday, the next few days weren't so good. Lots of aches and tiredness, but he didn't end up in the hospital. At this time he will do these every 3 weeks if he tolerates this one. Ladies, please have your DH's have their PSA 's done and be sure they know what the number are when they are done. We were not told his was in the 40's until it was too late (his doc. never told him, just kept him coming back every 6 months). Two weeks ago it was 70 so he had to have more chemo. This has really been hard for the family to deal with, but will take one day at a time. Thank you all so much.

GrannyQ, I'm so glad you like your MB. I love doing that pattern. Good to hear that your DH didn't have major problems with his chemo rx, continued prayers for both of you.
QNS, I love those flamingos and what they became in your quilt. I have to share a story about our plastic neighborhood flamingo. I love the pink plastic flamingos, my neighbor thought it was tacky when I put it in our yard. I went out one morning and it was hanging from one of the eaves of the garage. I got him down and took him and put him in the center of my neighbor's oh-so-perfectly manicured & landscaped garden. A week later the flamingo was floating on an inflatable chair in another neighbor's pool. A week after that the flamingo was on a serving platter with lettuce around him on another neighbor's picnic table. This went on all summer with each neighbor trying to out-do the one before him. Hmm..never did get my flamingo back LOL!
Quick recipe for crock-pot: Classic Minestrone
2 carrots, diced
2 ribs celery, diced
1 medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 cups chicken broth
1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
salt & pepper to taste
1 tsp Italian seasoning
Put all in crock pot, cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
About 30 minutes before serving add 1 cup small shell pasta or elbow macaroni, 1 15 oz can cannellini beans (rinsed & drained), and 1 cup shredded kale or spinach. Cover, increase heat to high and cook til pasta is tender (about 30 min). Serve with Parmesan cheese.
This makes about 6 good sized servings. I usually freeze half in individual size servings. Freezes well. Enjoy.
