JanRN, the lady we knew in Texas loved flamingos and put them the length of her driveway on each side. They disappeared while she was gone to work one day. But as she walked the area, she found a driveway decorated with pink flamingos; so she took a closer look. They all had her name on the inside of them, so she started pulling up all the flamingos. Lady of the house came out and said, "What are you doing? I am calling the police!" "Go ahead", said the lady we knew. "They all have my name on the inside of them." "I should have known when my son gave them to me!" said the lady of the house, "Go ahead and take them!" And the lady went back into her house.

Thanks for the soup recipe. Sounds easy and quick to make, I will have to try that and see if I can do it.

I hope this works as the file was taken from a cd, this was the kaleidoscope quilt I made for DH 10 years ago, it was originally motorcycle fabric and the pattern came from Bethany Reynolds Stack n Whack book

MiraB and DD ........ Gorgeous fabric!! It is going to make for a beautiful quilt. I know you will go way beyond the basic layout we have seen already. Do you have enough of the stripe print to use as is for your borders? Your husband's motorcycle kaleido turned out really well. So what are you going to do for him now? A fish kaleido?

JanRN ... You had me laughing with your flamingo story! No doubt a lot of fun and anticipation in wondering where it would show up next! Maybe you should get a new one for this summer and see how long it stays in your front yard? mmmmmmmmm soup! Thank you for the recipe. I'll be brewing this one up soon!

I love all the Stack N Whack quilts being shown. I thought they were so neat, so I bought the book. I always Ohhh and Awwww at them, but never made one myself!

Great pictures and stories. I too have made a few kaleidoscope quilts. The rose one was my 3rd quilt. It uses a free pattern online called Spin Cycle (from Blank Quilting). I looked for the link and it isn't online anymore so I attached the pdf...no ruler needed, you just cut a square, then cut that in have and cut a little triangle off one corner to make a "kite" shape. Goes together pretty quick.

I have one other quilt started with the Spin Cycle pattern. It was on my list for last year to finish, but my shoulder slowed me down...maybe this year.

The other one is a faux kaleidoscope...Jelly Girl using a jelly roll.

The second quilt I made was a stack and whack and wound up making 3 of them right off the bat. Two were gifts.
GrannyQ....so good to hear from you and that DH is doing better with this round of therapy. Love your blocks all together.
JanRN...my son put pink flamingos on his front lawn to announce the birth of his daughter. IRL they are very striking birds.

Lots of activity here this week...all it took was one photo...Great photos of the quilts.. interesting technique for the kite kaleidoscope carriem...Alot easier than cutting triangles!! I stack & pin all layers before cutting not one at a time...that would drive me nuts....
The machine is finally in the house and it's so cute...

I also prepped another piece of fabric for a 4 patch posie...you'll have to wait until I get to NC to see how they turn out.

The soup is on my list Jan...I've never done soup in the crock pot.. a question...anyone here ever made a casserole of smoked ham, potatoes & onions...I had it as a kid years ago and don't know how to go about it...it was creamy,& had chunks of the ham & potatoes...everytime I have made scalloped potatoes the flour & milk,butter is lumpy & is stuck to the potatoes..Help!

Anne, neat little machine. Have you tried it out yet? I have a question for you about my Viking. All the instructions say DO NOT OIL. But on another QB thread someone posted that you have to oil the bobbin area. Yes or no? I've never done it, take my machine every 3 yrs for its check-up and haven't had a problem. Am I doing something wrong? (Remember, I come from the sewing era when the teacher kept saying "don't touch your knobs" meaning don't touch the thread or bobbin adjustment tension knobs--we always got a laugh out of that). With the Sweet 16 you oil the bobbin race each time you sew but I've never oiled my Viking.

No recipe for your casserole, Anne, hope someone has it. I'd like to try it; I have a frozen ham bone for soup and left over Christmas ham pieces in the freezer and this sounds like a good way to use them.
