Hey Ya'll. I had a special day w/my DM & DGM. DM took me shoppin' for my B-day present. I asked for a long (60") bathmat & we found it. It cost less than my DM wanted ta spend, so we found a cat tower. I sure hope that it'll keep my cat from destroyin' my house. At the old house my cat was mostly an outside cat, but here he hardly goes out a'tall. He feels that he has ta sharpen his claws somehow.

dublb - if you get some catnip and rub it on the post of the tower, he will start using the tower for his claws, at least that is what I did to attract my cat to his post. He uses his post all the time. He is also goes outside.

Mine are funny cats, they do not like cat nip. They were 'helping' me in the Mother's Day front flower bed this mornng, doing their 'thing'. Dh has 'borrowed' all my tools from my green wheeled cart during the winter, so need to find where they all are to plant the bed. With my sight so affected, my walking is not my steady gait, just one step at a time...

Trying to 'reclaim' my kitchen after Dh had 'rearranged' my big pans down on the baking counter in the way; he just had to get back in the dishpan and wash dishes this morning. Guess he created more dirty dishes this morning and washed everything up. And he is trying his best to find; reasons why he needs to go to DM on Monday when I go...and I am getting very hard of hearing...cannot hear a word. We did map out the garden for this season this morning...dh had already planted four tires to his Red Corn from Australia...and is looking for a tiller to work up more ground to plant more Red Corn...and his onions are going into four more tires. Couple of tires will be for Yukon Gold potatoes, another for herbs. About six tomato plants is all we agreed on setting out. Its dry here, and looks like a very dry summer. Rains go West or East of us....none here. Back to planting. You all have a good day.

Yup, DH & I are plannin' ta git some cat nip. We have just been too busy taday. We'll git tamarrow.
Sue it seems like ya are gittin' a great start on your garden. WE are gonna be way behind th's year. My trip ta Branson sure slowed us down. It looks like we are already gittin' hot here. In the upper 90's taday. We did git 6 tomatoes planted about 5 weeks ago & they have tomatoes on 'em already. Part o' taday was spent makin' tomato cages. They are gonna do great! The rest o' the beds are gonna have ta made ready for a fall garden. I'm not sure that DH realizes that yet. Hmmm I guess that okra isn't too late yet. Okra loves the heat!

I don't dare try catnip with my two feline friends. They are already crazy enough.
So glad to hear you are getting outside in the fresh air QNS. Fresh air and sunshine seem to make everything better, IMO.
3 more blocks today. That means 15 are now complete. Mayflower, Hen and Her Chicks and Sunshine.
This is the fabric used for Mayflower. It is another one that I designed and dyed.

That was wet. The design turned ghostly when dry.

Honchey...they are the deep Artbins. They have dividers if needed and FQs fit in them perfectly.
Today, the girls got their bees to repopulate their 8 hives and I got to help them. It was a fun learning experience. Something that I would like to investigate doing. I know there are bee keepers in my area but I just never thought if doing it myself.

W4Me ... another good quilty weekend for you! Congratulations on your progress ... and new fabric made too!

GGal ... what a wonderful trip you must be having. Learning about a new type of "farming"! Enjoy your time with your family as that time will fly all too quickly and you will be heading back home.

Gardnergal - I was a beekeeper for a while, back in the 70's. It was my dad's retirement hobby. We both went to classes at the local community college on how to keep bees. My dad made all the supers, and put all the frames together. We had an extractor and got lots of honey. We sold it for a nominal amount. It was fun! I had to give up the hobby when my first husband and I got a divorce - as we had 5 1/2 acres on a hill, and that is where we kept the bees.
