I've been playing with pieces that are sewn on top of the background and it looks nice with a frayed edge...that's why I want to cut with the pinked edge...

As often as we buy things, I went for the newest with the largest screen, so have a Fire 8.9. Hopefully we will have it for a long while. DH is doing more online searching already. There's so much farm info out there for him to look at and at the touch of a finger.

I have a tablet that I just play games on but it doesn't have enough space.. I want something that I can download on and then use it without the internet...I think you can do that on the Kindle..I've been checking out the Fire 8.9 and it's almost the same size as the tablet...looks like I'll be getting the Kindle for xmas

Anne, I've never used a pinking blade but when I use my pinking shears I aim right down the middle of the line I've drawn. Not sure how I'd do that with a blade but Carrie's suggestion sounds right.

I have one of the first Kindles that came out. Very basic but I hope it lasts; I love having the keyboard instead of a pull down. When this one goes, I'll probably go with the Fire and adjust. I just use mine to read free books, pics show up small and in black & white so I don't download quilt mags/books. Do I sound like June Cleaver? Still living in a black & white world LOL but I don't wear pearls.

I'm just going to have to practice with some scraps....my concern is sewing using a guide and the points of the edges butting up against it...practice, practice, practice...

I bought the 7 1/2" Kindle Fire when the "fire" first came out a few years ago. I really love it! I use it mainly for reading books. I download them from my local library, and from Amazon. Lots of free books out there! I really don't use it to its full potential. I do use it for internet when we are traveling and I don't have my laptop set up. I put photos of my grandkids and have an album for my quilts, when I want to show them to people.

I went out yesterday & today looking for the 8.9" kindle and none of the stores I shopped had them in stock...I need to actually see & hold it before I invest in one...I stopped at Hobby Lobby to check out their fabrics and their selections were on the slim pickins side..not much of a selection..it's a brand new store...maybe they didn't have all the stock displayed..
I'm debating whether I should put an artificial Christmas tree on the front porch while we're away...My neighbors said they would watch it for us......It was a $5 garage sale find... still thinking on it....I'm not concerned if someone takes it...
Jeanie, I might be starting the Grand Illusion on a small scale..might, might, might...when I get home...I downloaded all the info so far...
That's it for tonite...Later Guys, Anne

I tripped and fell on our court house steps yesterday, hurting my right foot and right knee...that is the one that is bone on bone, hurts like !@#$. Put the brace back on the knee and an ankle support on the foot... Lots to do today...have chicken to can (it won't fit in the deep freeze) Cannot take any aspirin so its one step at a time today. youall have a good day.
