Hello, I live in south central Indiana and have been quilting for 8 years. I love challenges and making quilts with lots of pieces. I have a newly retired husband and 2 adult children, 4 grandkids who I see on a daily basis as I serve as the family chauffeur. LOL
I also enjoy camping and RV travel, hence the "vagabond" part of my user name.
I have chosen the fabric for Harriet's Journey, I might use a tan as my background (8 yards, really?) so to contrast with the pretty white prints in this bundle. It's a half yard bundle called Annie by Windham Fabrics. Chocolate browns, blue, corals

Great colors QuiltingVagabond. There is plenty of contrast there to make beautiful blocks. I've never tried a half yard bundle but that's a great amount of fabric to use. I"m sure you'll have plenty.
It's great to meet y'all! Who would have thought Gulf Shores would have been a common spot? We could have passed each other in Fabrics by the Pound in Robertsdale or A&E in Pensacola. Even Bucee's. I'm still playing with colors.

Lovely fabrics, Quilting Vagabond! I love corals!
I decided to give a block a try (A-1, Air Castle) and it took me half an hour to do. I don't know why I was so whiney about doing seven per week! This was one of the easy ones, though.

Everyone’s blocks look great....the colors are all so pretty...
Quilting Vagabond....your color-way is really lovely. Some great blenders with your pretty florals.

Good morning everyone and thank you all for your replies ! It must look as though I have been absent from QB, but I haven't had any notifications in my emails from QB that you have replied and also if I come off QB - even for a short time - I have to Log In again, which seems pretty tiresome ! Am I doing something wrong ?
Thanks for introducing yourselves and the photos of your blocks, you are really excited to make a start aren't you ha ha !!! The colours you have chosen are so nice and I love your Whig Rose Teen - that is one block I will probably substitute for myself - applique and I just don't get on, so I will pop some blocks from my Loyal Union Sampler quilt for those - unless of course I see your examples and I am spurred on to try !!!!
It is a beautiful morning here in the UK - the sun is shining and the first daffodil has appeared in my garden. I am just praying that the very slow lifting of lockdowns can start soon and - PERHAPS we can start to get back to some sort of normality !!!

DottyD, first daffodil! I’m so ready for Spring. We still have a foot of snow in our backyard ... and now ice too as the snow melts. It’s still quite the trek out to the bird feeder. But I think it will melt this week with warming temperatures.
You mentioned you live about an hour south of London? In the Surrey Hills? I’ve read that area is spectacularly beautiful. Lots of small picturesque villages and nature parks. My husband is a hiker (I’m more of a shopper) and that is an area we’ve looked at visiting.

I'm in too. I just bought the book, as if I really needed another book. But I feel that I need to belong to something right now. I'll probably be a little behind.
Daffodils??????? We can't even see the ground right now. Too much snow. Promise of some warmer weather to melt the ice etc.

Some more about me. Please don't be put off by the screen name. It's what my first husband called me and he is long gone. He ran off with an elderly (???) widowed grandmother when I was just 40 and he was 44. She was 55. We met her in Sunday School!!!!. She just took one look at him and moved over to sit next to him, told him that if he was ever free, she was available.
I worked nights and they began a relationship right under my nose. I had no clue what so ever. He had gotten up out of bed and said to me...."I am going to leave you. I am going to find a 55 year old woman who can take better care of me than you can." And he left. I have yet to respond to that statement. There was nothing for me to say. That was in 1986. I guess I have a few choice words for him now, but that is water under the bridge. I still think he thought she had money and she thought he had money and neither one had a dime. I ended up with all the property. They married and were divorced within a year when it was discovered that they had apparently tricked each other. I am still single and have provided for my self a good life. There are times when I feel like the little red hen.
When we were still married, I asked if I could join a group and make a quilt. He said no. He now lives in a burned out trailer and I have a large paid for house. My fabric stash is extensive and my Amish neighbor just called and wants me to take her to a fabric store!!!!! Oh joy!!!!!!!
As for 8 yards of background, I have this bolt that is light with a light blue pattern. I've often wondered what to do with that. I must get my camera-computer-picture back in sync.
