New block finished:
[ATTACH=CONFIG]321220[/ATTACH]It was pretty tricky but I think it came out nice. Still needs to be trimmed to size. Piece C isn't a mistake - I think they're trying to say that it looks like it's a 90 degree angle but it isn't, and the angle of the template is right. Using the adjusted outer triangles I used everything else went together ok except the centre red piece. I had intended to piece that onto the melons and build it up outwards from there but the centre piece template is too small. So I just reverse applique'd a red circle on once I had joined everything else together and that came out fine. And the outer pieces were applique'd too. I feel like it was a bit of a bodge job to put together but I made it work!
And on a separate note DogHouseMom's last post reminded me - it upsets me that once they retire these patterns they are selling them. How can they make money from such mistake ridden patterns with a clear conscience!!!

Victoria, your block is gorgeous! I now understand what the 'look like it's 90 degree angle' means. Sorry for the confusion!
I don't know how they can sell these patterns without thinking twice.
@SheriR: I wouldn't be so sure of that. I don't think they test at all, I have no idea how they assemble the blocks because most of the patterns do have one or more mistakes. I do know I will never participate in any quilt along or whatever they're doing ever again!

I have never posted on the Quilting Board before; I hope this is okay, grin.

I have enjoyed doing these blocks, however I only have done through 18 so far. I really want to finish this I spent alot of money on my material and with 18 blocks done I have to keep going. However I am also going to substitute the compass block, I do all my sewing by machine so anything by hand is not for me.
I was thinking about the wild zinnias block on quilters cache, its kinda similiar I think, what do you all think about replacing it with that block? It's paper pieced and a 12" block I love doing paper piecing. Any other suggestion to replace the compass block with?
I sure hope these patterns get better for all our sakes. I hope everyone can continue and finish.

sewhappy30, I went to Quilter's Cache, too. I do like your suggestion of the zinnia block as a replacement for the compass block; I've added it to my list of possibilities. Thanks!
Several blocks caught my eye when I was on the site. The "Star and Crescent" block is from the 1920s and has the white open space around it resembling the JT2 block. I also like the "Children Take Wing" block, and the "Evening Star" block could be adapted. Unfortunately, they aren't historic. Guess I'll have to decide at some point.
